November meeting announcement

Tanksgiving (see what I did there) is almost here and the holidays around the corner. The reefing season is in full swing. As the days grow shorter less sunlight is available for things to grow. Perhaps this is a good time to talk about lighting.

We have asked Steve Heath to come speak to us on reef lighting.
Steve has been a member since 2007 and has kept fish since 1980 and purchased his first saltwater fish from puppy center in 1989. He served as club president in 2011. While he is here we would like to award him a lifetime membership along with a certificate for his service to the club.

While we are on on the subject of lighting we have decided for this months raffle we are going to raffle off
....wait for it....
:inlove: a Radion gen2 light fixture :eek1:

Many of out members have expressed they would like the raffles to be for members only. We have taken this into consideration and have decided that the radion being a very large ticket item, the winner must be current on their membership prior to winning. There will be smaller prizes available to anyone who would like to attend. If members would like to donate any corals or items to the raffle we would be very grateful to accept them. If you need to renew your membership you may do so at the meeting or online.

The meeting will be held at our usual stomping ground
The Lutz Children's Museum
247 South Main st
Manchester, CT

November 17 at 5:00 pm

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

I will be away on vacation can I get in on the raffle. I would love to buy some raffle tickets for that but won't be here. Please tell me the winner doesn't have to be present

Another month, another raffle, more good people.

Another Sunday. I've been on RC for two years. I paid CTARS dues last year - didn't bother this year. Can't make Sunday meetings - ever. I know other's cannot either. I'm glad we have an active club and great meetings to attend. Maybe the 2014 BoD will address this issue. Something to mull over this meeting as we segway into the last couple meetings of the year.

Had to put my two cents in. Enjoy the meeting guys and happy reefing. Turkey Day is around the corner ;)

Great prize. Ill be working during this one too. Any thought to changing it to western ctars? All the functions and meetings are always there anyway.

If you know a place that we can host a meeting closer to your neck of the woods, let the BOD know.

I'm jus gonna throw some geography out there for you guys... Jus about every meeting is held in Manchester... Manchester is 35 miles from the eastern RI/CT border, ie Putnam or Killingly... Also Manchester, is 70 miles from the western border of the state, ie Danbury, and all points along 84 west on that side of the state... So, to make any assumption/statement that meetings and gathering are held in the western half of the state, is completely foolish...

And THIS is the one I have to miss?! Ugh of all the times to leave the country. My luck will be sent with Saltychick haha

But in all seriousness...
I am aware I'm running for VP. On the chance that I am elected, please don't take my absence as a hint of my future attendance. I plan to be at every meeting we have, and every other event I can attend. Before I was nominated for VP, I had entered a Facebook contest to try to win myself a waterproof backpack. I ended up winning myself the grand prize http://panexplore.com/bermuda-to-usvi/

So sadly, I'll be sailing out in the Atlantic doing research instead of attending this month's meeting. I hope you guys don't mind. I'll take plenty of pictures for sure. Maybe a little slideshow at the December meeting?

As long as Bob doesn't do his winning magic juju. I have a feeling that I will be going home with that Radion. The Light is MINE!!!:spin2:
