o2manyfish 750g Tank, 1500g System "Built" Thread

Slief,

Things still haven't stabilized yet. The water refuses to clear up. The fish that survived the crash are doing well.

I added a bunch of fish last Thursday and the new fish have not faired well at all.

I added my LPS that I had moved to a friends system back this week and they seem to be doing well.

More water changes and more carbon...

I'm sorry to hear about the water refusing to clear up. With your filter setup, I figured it would have been clear by now. Maybe some sort of a cartridge based cannister filter would help or pool filter with one of those pleated filter elements?

I hope things stabilize for you soon!

Hi Friends,

I moved my LPS that survived back into the tank about 3 weeks ago. And they are doing well.

I added some SPS test corals about 3 weeks ago and they are doing okay.

I added an Aussie Neon Green Toadstool, and Sinularia that are doing good. And I picked up a few more small pieces of LPS.

The tank water was still refusing to clear up. There is still some Zoas and Palys that are not recovering so there is still tissue die off occurring.

Last week I switched from Coconut Shell Carbon to old fashion activated carbon and the water started to clear up a bit, and this weekend the water was looking good but not excellent.

The fish that survived the crash are doing well. But new fish going into the system are not doing well. The first batch of tiny yellow tangs didn't last a week. I added a second batch from a different source last weekend, and they didn't fair well either.

I added some small Lubbocks wrasses and they are doing well. And the girlfriend picked out an Elibi Angel and it's doing well.

I need to clean my UV system. And when I went to pull the quartz sleeve I shattered the end. Fortunately it didn't break far enough back to start leaking. But the new sleeves should be here this week and then I will get the UV back up and running.

Glad to hear things are starting to get better. It's been a long haul for your systems recovery but it sounds like it's finally getting back on track. I am hoping that there is light at the end of the tunnel for you. Thanks for the update and please keep us posted!

Hey Guys,

I got swept up with a huge work project and for the past few months have been working long hours 7 days a week. I was slowly starting to add some corals to the system and they were doing well.

Then I picked up 8 Bali Maricultured pieces. All 8 RTN'd after being in the tank 24 hours. And then in the following 24 hours 10 out of 12 SPS pieces that I had in the tank also RTn'd.

So it appears the Bali pieces might have had some kind of bacterial infection, which dipping didn't do anything to erradicate.

But that was about 3 weeks ago. Since then I have added 4 more SPS pieces that are doing okay.

Hopefully this weekend I will be adding some more corals.

The fish population is starting to come back. I have a school of Dispar and Evansi Anthias. They aren't eating aggressively yet, but they have made it for the past 3 weeks.

Two weeks ago Dan Feig was in LA for Xmas. We went and did some shopping together and picked up some nice clams which are doing well.

The camera is up and running on the tank, although algae growth on the glass is out of control. So It requires wiping every 48 hours.

The baby bangai in the outside rock tank are growing nicely. About 4 weeks ago I tried moving just one to the display tank but it vanished in 5 minutes.

Will try to post some photos this weekend.

Great to hear things have taken a turn for the better. Bummer about the Bali pieces though. I've been thinking about you and your tank and checking this thread with regularity hoping that things were coming back around. Very happy to hear that things finally seem to be back on track! Keep the updates coming!

Happy Holidays and happy New Year to you and your family!

Slief,

I saw your cousin Dave Bluestein this past weekend. He says hello. I got a new puppy right before Christmas, a 2lb Brussels Griffon named Uke, so I am trying to socialize her and we go to the same dog park.

Hopefully, some new additions to the tank before the weekend.

Well,

Finally some pics that make me want to start sharing again. I picked up a couple of large zoa colony rocks, and used a frag saw and chopped them into little bits and then used a whole tube of IC Gel to mount them all in the tank tonight.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to bring home some SPS frags and colonies, and go through another tube of gel.

Everything is finally settling down in the tank. Other than algae covering the viewing pane about every 36 hours, the system seems to be doing well.

Before Xmas I came across some nice clams and picked up 4. 3 are 4"+ and I got one small 1.5" one. The small one died in about 24 hours but the big ones seem to be doing well.

I picked up a pair of Midnight clowns. One is solid black and the other has a nice single white spot on it.

This past weekend I updated my Canon 60D with a 70D. Haven't quite read the manual on it yet. These are some of the first shots with the camera. Camera supposedly captures 1.4 million colors, so with some adjustments I hope to get some better shots.

Newbie, Thanks for the compliments. For what I just spent on the new camera body, the cameras don't look that great. But all I did was turn the camera on and shoot. So nothing has been adjusted for shooting the tank yet.
