Hey guys i bot a pair of oc clowns 3 days back, they qere feesing them nls marine pellets and it was eating, i have nls thera A and nls algae max. I also bot frozen mysis. One clown eats a few pellets and then it jus takes it in and spits them out. The other jus takes it in and spits out. Never swallows. It had become thin so gave frozen mysis, and it ate. Im feom india and i was lucky that my neighbour had gone to uk and had got frozen mysis for me. But im scared that what if it gets over and it doesnt eat any thing. A local hobbyist suggested me to feed them hikari marine s, so ordered it. A few other local hobbyist have alao told me that many fishes are not accepting nls pellets. Have u guys experienced same problem? Whats to be done?

I've never had this problem with NLS 1mm pellets, they have a very good reputation.

Maybe you can try soaking them for a bit in tank water to make them more digestable?

Well i did that, but there were 6 to 7 lying at the bottom and one of the clown wud jis not eat... the other wud eat a few and then wud spit out the new once..

I've never had any fish turn down NLS pellets. My clowns love them as do all of my fish. I had a Hector's goby that the only prepared food it would eat were NLS pellets

I use to have a Percula pair that the male wouldn't eat the 1 mm NLS pellets for some reason but went crazy over the .5 mm pellets in the same NLS blend. So you can either get the .5 to try or simply crush up the ones you have. You can also add either garlic extract or Selcon to the pellets in a small cup of tank water and let them soak a bit before putting in the tank.

I see posts on new fish not eating right away a bit but it seems like I see it a lot more w/ clowns for some reason, and I've had this happen a number of times myself, a few days before they start eating.
Acclimating to new surroundings maybe, but they usually do end up getting over that.
NLS pellets, often it takes a few tries to get used to it, but once they do it seems to become a favorite.

Well it did eat 1 pellet finally along with few hikari marine S. [emoji4]

In my experience clowns will take some time to get accustomed to the tank. And I've seen them take at least a week or more to start eating. And this is the same with multiple pairs that I've had over the years.

1 clown died of velvet i dono how this happened.. other is breathing heavy but ate a few pellets.. it was sad to see the other clown going at the same spot to check where her mate died..

I had three 3/4" clowns in a row die in my qt while all other fish thrived. The fish in the qt are all super passive fish like possum wrasse, whitespotted filefish and helfrichi of similar size.

The re-seller I purchased the clowns from did tank transfer method and they were eating .5mm pellets for him. Before I brought them home I matched my qt to his pH, salinity and temp and purchased .5mm pellets to have on hand. After drip acclimating them I introduced them to qt and they looked wonderful. The next morning the darwin was dead but the fancy looked great.

I tried feeding spirulina enriched brine the next evening and the clown had no interest at all so I tried the .5mm pellets and he wouldn't even look at them. There is no competition in the tank for food, everyone is very polite. I had business near the seller so he gave me a free replacement darwin and it too would not eat. I bought everything I could think of; pe mysis, cyclopese, bloodworms, ect.. The new darwin bit something two days later but spit it out. I assumed he swallowed a portion of it as I'd read the little guys will do that. Neither of them ever ate again and died about 10 days later.

I have an algae turf scrubber and sponge filter on my QT which keeps my water perfect. My water quality was also confirmed by lfs testing. I have no idea what happened or why the other fish which are all diversden purchases have had no issues.

Maybe the smaller clowns can do ok with a move or two but I am three hours away from the seller and it might just be too far for them?

Well i had my clowns since a month and i dono wat caused velvet. I had a small salinity fluctuation but then they were back, ate like crazy.. then suddenly they got velvet and died.. i jus dono how this happened? i blame the voltage current thts there in my tank which must have stressed them.. cant see any other reason. Infact the brittle star that i have was totally torn when i got it, tht recovered.. so i doubt its my water paramaters..
