Looking good - previous page with stainless tank...

Update on mine. After comparing reflectors on the outer orbit series I planned to buy vs. the PFO mini pendants, I decided to go with the PFO's. WOW what a difference with the same bulb. I loved my old 20" orbit but man a large good reflector makes a world of difference So I am picking up my two 250w mini pendants Sunday with phoenix 14K bulbs and aro ballasts. Going to make a custom fixture for my 90.

Also my 20L sum is almost complete / the plumbing is next.

Purchased two Koralia 4's to add additional flow.

So your return is up into the bulkheads? I'm still thinking I'll try that to start with but if it's at all noisy, I'll change to the Herbie method.

Yep, right to the bulkhead. Its barbed for vinyl tubing. 3/4"

I think I am going to do a tee with a 6 feet of tubing with a ball valve on it just for water changes.

I like the water change idea - anything to make that job easier.

Same way I am doing mine, for fast easy water changes. Also doing a 10G custom mixing tank with a circulation pump & heater along with a pump which adds water back into the sump.. Kinda a pipe dream but making it a reality haha.

My 120G has been in the works for several months but without any tangible results until today when I put it on the base part of the stand. This is going to be a mixed reef with the corals being primarilly softies and LPSs.

Details are:
120G Oceanic Tech Tank with Starfire Glass front 48"X24"X24"
Custom stand slowly being built by me. The sturcture is done and finished on the inside and I will build the sides and front later that will be totally detachable.
Sump is in the basement directly under the tank and consists of a 70G Rubbermaid Stock Tank with about 200 lbs of live rock and a 29G Refugium with a thin layer of sand for looks and Chaeto.
Skimmer is a DAS EX-2 plumbed external to the sump.
Lights are 6 48" T5 Retros with Ice Cap reflectors and standard ballasts.

Bud,

That's awesome!:D That is one beautiful set-up. You need to start your own thread if you haven't!

Joe

That's some set up indeed. I'm trying to get mine all consolidated in one stand and don't even want to run a return feed round the back.
Whereas you've got a small ocean beneath everything else!LOL.
That's a sweet setup.

On my 120 I used the supplied Oceanic plumbing. It is totally silent, except for a very slight waterfall sound as the water rushes into the overflow. I can even silence that if I don't use the supplied overflow cover and raise the overflow pipes to minimize the distance the water falls. I like a small waterfall for the oxygenation effect.

Joe

Joe, I'm going to use the supplied overflow parts as well. I know the 1" barbed bulkhead needs 1 1/4'ID flex tubing, is that what you used? Do you dump straight into a sump or do you have other plumbing pieces connected as well. I'd like to combine the two overflows into a single bigger drain before I go through the wall to the basement and then split it back out down there, but I'm unsure what to use to get me there.

Ha! Ok, I just went through your build and see that you've replaced at least one of the hoses. Did you swap out the bulkhead to a different type?

Very nice, killagoby! What lights are you using? Is that the Solaris LED?

Thank you. It is a Solaris. It's a 36" H series.

Also you can see my fuge through the smoked glass front pane of the stand. Here's a shot at night...

Nice, dsn112. I am going to try to start the plumbing on my 120G today, but I still haven't gotten up the nerve to attempt gluing the baffles in my 29G. What's the clear plastic thing in your return line?

check valve. Closes if water flows backwards like in a power outage. Just another saftey precaution to prevent floods.

dsn the tank looks good so far. Homemade sump/fuge in a 29 gallon tall tank? Also, how does that ball valve (the red one) work off of the return line?

Yea killa, its a 29g standard homemade. Its about the same size as your ADHI, just 12" wide, not 14" like yours.

The red ball valve is strictly for water changes. Once I set it in the stand, I am going to connect 5ft of 3/4 inch black tubing and roll it up and set it ontop on the sump, or wherever it fits. The valve will remain closed except when I need to do a waterchange.

dsn112, i see you did the hofer gurgle buster. do you have the "bell" upside down? or am i looking at it wrong. was my understanding water would come over the top not flow through from the bottom as shown below.
