Im not sure, I bought it at a LFS. That is what they were using instore and it was pretty quite.

It looks like mine works by keeping the water level in the overflow high enough to keep from the waterfall sound. then it enters via the bottom and under the thicker zone there are holes on both sides of the pvc. But since I purchased it, im not positive of the design.

Yea killa, its a 29g standard homemade. Its about the same size as your ADHI, just 12" wide, not 14" like yours.

The red ball valve is strictly for water changes. Once I set it in the stand, I am going to connect 5ft of 3/4 inch black tubing and roll it up and set it ontop on the sump, or wherever it fits. The valve will remain closed except when I need to do a waterchange.

Great idea for the ball valve for quick water changes. Are you going bare bottom, DSB or SSB?

well i just did the hofer gurgle buster (pic and link above). let me first say, the stock durso kit was making to much noise for me to move the tank from the garage to the living room. i was looking for a way to quiet things down and the hofer gurgle buster did it! absoultely incredible! not only is the overflow quiet, but it also cut down on the noise into the sump. tank will finally be coming into the house as soon as i can get a buddy to help me haul it in.

took about $6.00 in parts and 10 minutes to build. spent another 20 minutes fine tuning and staring/listening in amazement. now the only noise is the hum of the return pump. wow!

Help!!

I have been filling my tank and its about 75%full(overflow box is empty) Im going to run everything with RODI and make sure Everything is working correctly.

My 29g is in the stand but empty.

It is on a carpeted floor and seems very flimsy. At 75%full it is very flimsy and i can make it sway if i push on the tank ever so slightly.

Is anyone else having this issue. It almost seems like its leaning forward a tad, but I took a level to it, and everything shows level. Im paranoid now since its in my family room in my new house.

What type of floor is it on? Is there a lower level or basement below? Your tank will probably weigh over 1000 pounds once it's fully stocked. 1 gallon of water equals 8 pounds.

My tank does sway if I rock it, but not that much. More than my old 75 gallon Oceanic tank on a wooden stand though. I believe it has to do with the construction of the stand. 3 doors can be a downfall too.

Hi,I have a question on the oceanic tech starfire glass. Does it scratch as easily as acrylic or not. Thanks Richard

I dumped it and took it from a carpeted room to a hardwood floor, it was running with the joists before and now runs across them. There is a basement below it. It seems as if it was the floor not the tank and stand.
On the carpent the front end was leaning, now it seems to be fine. We will see.

I used to have a tech 120 on a relatively cheap wood stand and if anyone ran or even hopped a little within 5 ft of the tank the whole thing would rock a 1/4" to a 1/2". It scared the crap out of me constantly but it lasted for over a year and was never a problem beyond peace of mind. This was on the second floor of a old building. Hope that helps dsn112

In a 70gal it's 1/2".

Anyone positive? I need to know for the Vortech, and of course the oceanic website says nothing

It should be fine on the side glass. I've heard of people having problems with it on the back glass because of the coating. I have no idea why.

I have my Tunze magnet holder for my 6101 on the back glass. It does just fine. The holder is for tanks up to .75" thickness on glass. I measured the side glass. I thought I got a measurment of .75", but it could be .5". Put a post up about the Vortech on Tech Tanks glass. People should respond.

I have used a couple of the tunze magnets on all panels (but the bottom) on my 120 and never had a problem. I'm sure the Vortech magnet will be fine.

There is some kind of issue with the Vortech on the back glass. I am putting it on the side. The vortech has a spacer that sets it correctly for the size of the glass. I just wanted to make sure before I put it up. The thing is amazing. The flow is so wide, and at full blast makes a crazy wave.
