Pretty much, I get beleved edges but I get a center brace. I also have black silicone like you guys have

Heres my 156 that I finally got. Because of the wait, the lfs owner felt bad and gave me 200 instore credit. Cost of this tank witha 40 breeder was 401 after tax......believe that!

Yes I was super happy

Tech tank overflow question:

Is the top of the overflow below the top of the tank, to help prevent floods if the overflow is blocked?

In the pictures, it looks as though its at the same height, but its hard to tell.

Thanks.

Mine is about the same height as the tank's sides. But there are teeth at the top of the overflow.

Question for you 120g tank guys....

Which pump did you use for your return? I am thinking the 9.5 mag. I don't want too much flow through the sump.. but more then my 5.5 now has on my 75.

I run an Eheim 1260.

Cool, look forward to seeing it. I can't wait to get mine going, this is taking forever.
My 80lbs would be fine, but it's almost all shelf pieces, so I'm going to have LOTS of platforms and caves I think. I do have regular rock currently in the 36g I'm replacing, so I guess I'll just see what I have left over. At least I'll have lots of aquascaping options!
Did you go for a DSB in the end?

Just an inch or two. I will post pics today. Cloud is gone.

I bought an external pump, Blueline HD40. It's supposed to be as reliable as a Japanese made Iwaki, but for less money. Aside from being super reliable, it's efficient and it won't add heat to the tank.

What size sump do you have, and how fast is the flow through it?

Thanks!

NanoGurl,

I use an Oceanic model 3 sump. I believe it to be ~ 45 gallons. The Eheim 1260 pushes around 450 gph through the sump. It is a gentle flow. I can't really see any flow with my eyes (unless I have some bubbles in there). I don't have sand in my sump, but if I did, the flow wouldn't be enough to disturb a sandbed.
By the way, the model 3 sump is just a wee bit too wide to fit through the Tech stand side doors. I had to remove the top of the stand to sit it in there (wasn't hard at all). It just seems to me that Oceanic would have designed all their sumps to fit in their own stands.

I use a MagDrive 9.5 on my 70 Tech. I have a ball valve on it that reduces the output by around 50%.

Here is the latest update, I want to add more rock. We will see.

Not too fond of the color of the t5 bulbs Grim Suggested I get, might try something new.

Hey 70g Tech tank owners, what sump/refugiums are you using? I'm finding it difficult to find a decent setup that will fit under a 36" wide tank. Show me what you got.

dsn112, what sand are you using? is that why you have the polishers in - to get rid of the sand cloud?

teamplayer, hope to have some pictures up in a few days; however, i'm running a 24x14 sump/fuge. then had a 5x14 auto top off resevoir built to slide in beside it.

I use AHDI's Model 30 Refugium. It just fits in the cabinet. I had to remove the side door to slide it in.

Here's a bad shot of my tank, but you can see the fuge through the front smoked glass pane...

dsn112- Looks good so far to me. I like the color on the lights. What combo of bulbs are you using again?

KMP, used carib sea aragonite and rinsed it, still made a big mess, its about done now.

Team Player, I used a standard 29g tank, its 30" so I have just enough room to hang my phosban reactors off the end.

Killa, I think the lights are too pink. It looks fake, some of the rock has nice green and purple coraline, and you can't tell.
Im using 3 ati blue plus, 1uvl aquasun, 1 uvl 75/25, and a geismann actinic plus. I called reefgeek and they said I need to do a super actinic and a midday, since all of my bulbs are pretty much blue with a bit of red. I will expereiment

So I have 80lbs of Tonga (not fiji) shelf rock that's been delivered to me instead of the 36lbs that I ordered. Not a bad deal eh? Anyone think I'll fit all that into a 70?
It's going to take a while to cure.....sigh.....
I also got a 45g brute for storing saltwater; seemed like I should join the club.

I've been gone for a couple of days and am trying to catch up! If you can make room in your sump or add an additional container to your system that extra rock would really be beneficial!
