I've been working on it this morning.
The eheim 1250 is annoying, there's no 3/8" pieces you can find to attach to it plus the pieces they give you don't fit any pipe here.
So, I got the trusty dremmel out this morning and shaved down a piece of 1/2" pipe which now fits into the pump adapter. I figure I'll just permanently cement it.
I then used a 1/2 union and 3/4 union and pieced them together.
It's a bit ghetto, but as long as it doesn't leak or lose pressure it'll work as it's in the sump of course.

I love my water filter setup now - so much more convenient than before.

No more floods for me! I now have a float switch. (Always forgetting to turn it off before).

Plumbing - through the wall to the bathroom.

Hard to make the pieces out, but they're mostly a decent size - 8"-12". I'm going to have lots of shelves and caves!

Is there a trick to getting the standard drains seated well into the bulkheads, mine seem to be leaking a little?

Bud,

I put a thin coating of plumber's silicone grease (the stuff you get at Home Depot, etc. right around the PVC pipes) on each gasket. The gasket goes on the wet side (you already knew this, I'm sure). Then I just centered the bulkheads in the drilled holes in the tank and hand-tightened them. Then I used the bulkhead wrench to tighten them a little more. Don't over-tighten.......You already knew this, too.......

Hey Joe, thanks! It's not the bulkhead itself that is leaking, it's leaking around the overflow tubes so without the return flowing the overflow box will slowly empty. Per the instructions, I did not cement the overflow tubes into the slip fitting of the bulkhead and that is where the leak is.

Paul - in the round container is 40lbs of Tonga shelf rock, which is curing away. I was sent two orders by mistake!
It was my saltwater container, but I have a 45g brute to the side now so I can keep more in reserve.
I added a tap/drain to the bottom of the round container so it's easy to change the water.

...and boy is that rock stinky. I did a 100% water change and scrubbed the rock again yesterday. Still lots of die-off. I think it's going to be another couple of weeks before it will be anywhere near ready to go in the tank.

Where did you get the rock? My Tonga Shelf Rock from Marcorocks should be here tomorrow.

I started circulating the water in the tank yesterday and the water falling over the overflow is really loud. Will this quiet down once I mix in the salt and the surface starts to slime up some? Also does anyone else have a problem with the overflow pipes leaking from the slip fit through the bulhead back into their sump?

never had a problem with the leaking or loud water fall, the mega flow on the other hand is fairly loud (i think because the holes drilled around the sides of the elbow), alot of people have converted from the mega flows to other configurations and used the bulk heads for drainage and re routed the returns to bulkheads in the holes of the euro brace. i also reduced the noise by running a slower return pump and adding 2 power heads this acually works out better all around. plus lift the megaflow so the water is only dropping through the overflow just enough to skim the surface

How fast is the flow going through the sump?

There are some really really nice pieces, I'm just impatient with the curing process. One piece had quite a sizable sponge on it which was really really 'fragrant'!

Right now with the temporary set up it should be around 300gph according to the flow chart on the box that came with the pump. I have no way of verifying that though.

My rock all smelled like the ocean. I bought it all out of a neighbors tank. Lucky me, my tank had virtually no cycle.

This rock is really nice stuff. I love it. I can't wait to aquascape with it. However, it's going to need the full 3-4 weeks I think.

Another problem has reared it's ugly head. I may actually move house in the not too distant future. SO, I'll have to see, but I may even decide to leave my 70 un-setup and 'move' into it instead.
After all that eh? Meanwhile you guys will have to keep posting pics of your tanks to tide me over.
