Thks, I love the openlook. I have a 25 gal rimless right now.

I went with the Solarflare t-5's last night, i couldnt afford the pendant I wanted. We will see....

I have had my 120g Tech since 10/06 setting empty. This week I tried to give A.E. my $$$ for only these items: 72"x30"x30"aquarium, 36”x20”x20” sump and 48”x30”x16” prop tank built by A.E.G but was basically blown off by a BS quote, they also tried to sale me equipment I didn’t want and a monthly service agreement. Who does not clean and maintain there own aquarium, what’s the fun in that!!!

So with all that said, "I’m in the process of purchasing equipment for my 120g Tech".

1. Aquactinics Constellation 48" T5 fixture or Sfiligoi Stealth T5 Pendant with KZ - Fiji purple and Coral white bulbs
2. MRC Reef Sump/Ref 36"x18"x18"
3. ATI BM200
4. GEO618
5. Midwest Aquatic Sulfur DeNITRIFIER
6. MRC Nilsen/Kalkwasser and MRC Fluidized Media Chambers
7. VorTech and Eheim pumps
8. TECO SeaChill with Ranco ETC Dual Stage Controller
9. Emperor Aquatics - SMART HO UV
10. Profilux
11. APC Batter Backup
12. Marshall Island Live Rock

I will add pictures as I get the equipment over the next few months. I will be mainly keeping sps coral, angle, butterfly and wrasse

What's the price onthe stand/tank combo?

I purchased a 70 gallon tech tank/stand combo for 985.00. Have a three week wait to get. Hope to have it this week. John

I'd like to know what you found out Joe and anyone else. I don't think these people know what's going on. I've gotten 2 different answers out of them. So have you all. I guess we'll never know. =( It would be soooooooo nice if all 3 sides were starphire. Here was my 2nd letter to them...and their response.

Hi There,
Some manufacturers that are selling this tank, say that after a certain date in 2006 all the tanks were changed. That only the front panel has starphire now, or it's just "Ultra Clear" glass. I would like to know "FOR SURE" if all 3 viewing sides are Starphire glass before purchasing a 120g Oceanic Tech Tank. Thank you very much for your time.
Gina

Hello,
Only the front panel is Starphire. The entire tank is made from a much thicker glass that makes it possible to remove the center brace. That is why the tank is so much more expensive.

Thank You,

Subject: Oceanic Tech Tank Question...very important

Hey, Gina,

Is this the same "Daniel O'Brien" that wrote you last time saying"all three sides are starphire" ????

LMAO!!!

Joe

Its fair to say there have been variations in their production runs: some with Starphire on front only, some with front and two sides. Some with classic Oceanic trim at the bottom, some with the AGA looking trim. Still, its a great looking tank!

i just don't think i should buy one anymore, i would now be taking a gamble on what i would get, that makes me sad, i really want one just like Larry's with starfire on three sides and the nicer looking Oceanic trim at the bottom, i just don't think i should buy one until the standardize there production

I received my reply from Rob at Central Aquatics regarding my tank and where it was made;

"That tank was built in the 4th quarter of November of 2006. The K11 is November 11th, the 06 is 2006, and the W4 is the fourth quarter of the month.
Your tank was built here using StarFire for the front pane of glass."

So, at least I have starfire on the front, and not ultra-clear!!

Now, everyone knows the code to check their tanks serial number, and if they've got starfire glass on the front. The serial number can be found underneath the bottom glass, on the right side of the tank, facing the tank. It's on a very small paper attached.

Joe

This is what i got from him:

"If the tank was built before last august then it was built using “Ultra Clear” glass on the sides and front (built in Texas ). If it was made after that then it was made here in Wisconsin and has a “Star Fire” front pane. The sides and the back are standard glass. If there is no production tag anywhere then it was built here with StarFire glass on the front pane.

Star fire is much clearer than UltraClear glass and is more expensive."

And take notice, no where did any rep. or engineer from Central claim that the sides were ever starfire....except that Dan O'Brien guy, and he later changed his tune. No one ever said that all three sides were ever used with ultra-clear, either.
