Octopus - How strong are we talking?

I have a 50 gallon pentagon tank 30"X30" by about 24 deep (or close to that) that I'm considering putting an octopus in.

Assuming I put a slab of acrylic on top to keep him from escaping, how much weight will I need to put on there? Couple of bricks suffice?

I read that they're incredibly strong - but how strong are we talking about?

Mine would grab ahold of the feeding stick I used to feed it. He would then grab ahold of a five pound piece of live rock that was in the tank. He wouldn't let go. We would drag that live rock around the tank for a while till I would give up. Then he would let go of both. He thought it was funny. Drove me crazy.

From everything i've read just get a bimac. They aren't as prone to trying to escape, and they aren't nocturnal. They are also the only aquacultured species, so they are also the toughest octo. I'm sure it happens but I haven't read anything from a single bimac owner that said they made much effort to escape.
