Found something interesting out today...I decided to calibrate my pH probe and guess what? The pH is at 8.22 not 8.45...I wonder how it got out-of-whack??

Also, while trying to calibrate my conductivity probe, I got a message that the probe is defective. What a maroon!

OK Marc, what's wrong with this picture?

my_sump1.jpg

It's not in my house! :D

I just can't imagine a sump that clean.

And look how plush and close the grass is cut!

wow that is one creepy looking snail! You son really don't look to happy with that thing in his face :D You probally made him even more sick lol

and I thought the fresh air would do him good. I caught the strep from him so now we are both sick.

but hey, how often do you get to see a snail like that??:D

LOL no kidding. he isn't feeling to well at the time either so I made him go to the beach and get some salt air.

Anyone have any experience with cleaner shrimp molting? All of mine molted at the same time. Is that what normally happens??

When they molt at the same time they are trading sexes... the male becomes female and vice versa.. kinda wierd. I have the same thing in my tank and did some reading on it.

Well Curt @ Neptune help me dial in my ACIII Pro and now it is reading pH and conductivity correctly. :D

And I logged in to tell you all that my GBTA just ate a whole herring (red) which average 5.5". It didn't fool around either and had it in its mouth in less than a minute. That should teach those tangs a valuable lesson!

Also an interesting observation in my tank is that while it has taken a while for various fish to accept prepared foods, the Yellow Tangs (Haw) still will not eat it. I suppose when they run out of algae they may try something and I have noted that each fish learns from another one about the foods I put in, yet the yellows turna blind eye to it.

I have seen excellent growth in all fish though so no one is starving!:D

So you like my clean sump? That was back then, I'll admit, but I do clean it monthly as I prefer a pretty sump to a messy one.

I'll be updating that picture with a new one in the near future when I get the prop section going finally.

I love my lawn in the summer. Right now it is coming back, after a long dry winter hibernation. Rain is helping immensely, and my sprinkers have been repaired where broken. Soon I'll be mowing weekly again. ;)

I am scared to even go outside. I have over an acre of lawn and it's about 8" already! And the damn dandylions are all over the place. I have to take my mini-vac out and suck them up before I mow. And I've got a friggin hemmoroid...not fun on a lawn tractor, believe me.

Believe it or not, I was thinking about those yesterday...I can't believe what has happened to me in 2 short years. Well they were short for me because I have no short-term memory.

My eye site, which has been the same for the last 25 years has changed radically, my weight has shifted to a new region, and I want to take a tin snips to my butt. I can't wait to see what happens when I turn 50!

I thought with all the work you were doing on this tank, you would be a bit on the anorexic side! No time to eat and burning calories like mad:)

Well, my wife has been trying to fatten me up ever since my stroke. When I got out of the hospital I weighed only 150 lbs., down from 185. And we own a store with a zillion import chocolates...no tank can compete with that! :D Now I am back up to 175, but shaped differently...and I tore apart the room we use for working out when I installed the tank.

I just shined a flashlight on the tank to see what I could see and got quite a fright when I found the foxface. It almost looked dead. It was jammed against a rock and had turned the color of the rock. I could barely recognize it as a fish until I saw its fin move. Really bizarre. I know they change colors quite a bit depending on their mood, but this way extreme to say the least.

My Foxface does that too. He just takes naps and goes cammo... It used to freak me out thinking he was sick. Now I just know he's being himself:)

Jonathan,

Have you ordered your Vor-Techs yet. If so, have they arrived or do you know if they've even been released?

I'm about to order a 375, 96X30X30 and not sure if I should have it drilled for a CL. I'd prefer the Vor-techs. Lead time on the tank is approx 6 weeks.

Thanks

I have them "pre-ordered from two different places and I still don't have them. The distributor did not have them a couple of days ago either. I know some people have gotten them already and I think the two "favored" sellers are Aquarium Specialty and Marine Depot. That is where you have the best chance of getting any. They sold out the first batch and there is supposed to be another batch enroute right now.

Get in touch with one of them and pre-order or you won't get them this time around either!! (or me) :D
