Order from NY Aquatic

Shipping is expensive, but what folks need to realize is that the vendors don't make any profit on it. Sure some big places can take a hit on it, but the small guys can't. We have a friend who does flat-rate shipping of his livestock, and sometimes he loses money, but (hopefully) makes it up on the closer customers, but still, it's part of the business.

We look to these vendors to supply us with the fishes we're looking for...if it was something easy, every LFS would have them.

I agree with gsiegel...when you find the specimen you've been hunting for over the course of years in some cases, and the fish is pricy, shipping cost goes right out the window...at least it should.

My first and only order as of now from NYA was at 1.023 or so I think.

Sadly my fish didn't make it long. I had trouble communicating with him about it too, but it seems most others have had good experiences. My fish never took food after getting it and withered away after 3 months.

sorry to hear that but totally understand and was there before but don't give up...nya is a great resource and I think things have improved...

I guess I should of added this my other post but $46 to ship a live fish 1,800 miles, to me is cheap. When I bought fish from the marine center in dallas it cost me $40 to go 275 miles and that was a few years ago.

I recently got an Attenuatus flasher from NYA for $230 plus $45 shipping making $275. DD recently had the same fish with "free shipping" for $299. Which was the better deal? :)

It's worth noting though, that DD QT'd & conditioned that fish. That's not to say I'm at all dissatisfied with my NYA purchase.

If I had a tank big enough, I would as well. The Interrupta, Joc, and Maze angels look great as well

Browsing through now, he's not doing the best job labeling the venusta.

He has them listed as Holacanthus venustus, should be Centropyge or Paracentropyge. Also saying they are one of the hardier angels, I could be wrong, but I don't think they are... I must say though, I'm tempted to get some at the price they are listed for. :)

Michael's customer service is second to none, or should I say no one.
I have bought many fish from NYA over the past years and even though I don't know Michael personally, I really feel I do. I have had conversations with him over the phone, and many emails back and forth. He treats me very well and his fish have for the most part been in top quality.
My last purchase was when I saw he had the Aurora anthias. I called him to find out what shape they were in. He said they were eating very well, and Oh, btw, I'm receiving some attenuatus flashers tonight!!.
Without any hesitation, or without knowing the price, I said sold!!

When the anthias and flasher arrived, the outside temp here was over 100 degrees and when I opened the box it was warm, but the anthias were fine but the flasher was on its side, and lethargic. I acclimated and placed him in my acclimation box and sent pictures to Michael. He immediately responded to my email, and told me to keep him informed of the health of the fish, and if it did not make it, he would gladly replace it.
The next day, the fish was doing better and I decided to add a piece of pvc pipe to my box, but as I did, he got out and disappeared into my reef.
Over the next two and a half weeks, I never saw it again, but Michael kept emailing me to ask how it was or if I had seen it yet.
Just when I thought it was a goner and emailed Michael to get me another one, it appeared. Now healthy as a horse and eating everything I feed.
TOP NOTCH customer service.

Bradlyj, the three flashers I've bought lately all lay on their side and looked like they were goners during acclimation. All three ate within a few hours and are healthy and happy. I think that is not unusual with flasher wrasse?

Looking forward to my pyramid arriving tomorrow. I've never even one offered on LA or DD but I've only been in the hobby a short time.

Mike does have great service. He emailed me a response to a question within a few minutes on Sunday. Above and beyond, IMO!

+1 for NYA... Michael is a great guy, always a pleasure to deal with, his place is about 20 minutes from my home, have been going there for years!... For me, everything there is WYSIWYG !

I'm really glad I live 2500 miles away. Or I would be homeless and alone by now.:lol2:

Not terribly unusually.
