Ordered a Gigantea from Live Aquaria. Advice wanted.

woot. just got in the gig. still attached to the rock and looking good. floating for an hr and then dripping for another 1.5-2 hrs. should be good acclimation method right?

It depends on how it looks.. If it looks good, then no problem acclimating slowly.. If it starts to act strange, I take it out of the shipping water ASAP and place in tank.

Just have to watch it closely. If it inflates/deflates over the next few days continously, it's not a good sign. Make sure you have alot of flow over the oral disc.

mouth has stayed tight but it kinda detached from the rock it was on. it was in a high flow area so i thought it didnt like it so i moved it over the a lower flow spot. it deflated over night but its mouth remained tight. im thinking about moving it back to the high flow area.

edit: just checked on its foot. although its in a lower flow spot and somewhat deflated, its foot remains attached. its starting to reinflate (lights came on at 630, its about 8 now). because its foot is attached, im hesitant to remove it. probably the right idea right?

Best thing to do is to put it in the high flow area and dial down your power head if you think it's too much. Stop moving it back and forth.

If she has decided to attach then I would say she is happy. Don't move it as you may stress her out or worse tear the foot. Post a picture if you can would love to see it.

ack. just saw it release sperm into the water column...

not too much though. water is still clear. however, it may be due to its size since its only 4 inches.

I doubt what you saw was sperm. I wouldn't think a 4 inch gig would be mature enough. It was probably just discharging some nasty stuff built up from shipping stress/conditions.
