OT: Anyone here go to the shooting range?

Hey everyone I need a decent shooting range in the area to go to this weekend. I know Gat Guns in Elgin/Dundee has one and people with out a FOID card can shoot as long as the owner of the weapon is there and has a valid FOID. Is there any others in the area that allow this? where do you guys go and anyone down for a sunday range day?

Big time shooter-hunter and gun builder here. Since I still have a Missouri drivers license and do not have a FOID card, my weapons are back in the safe in Kansas City. I am curious as well what kind of ranges we have here

There is a range in Mchenry called HP shooting Center...cheaper than Gats and less busy. My buddy uses this place and actually prefers this over Gats.....I would love to go, but am working some OT on sunday

Buffalo range by Ottawa is a great place to go with a group. Dont know if they will let you shoot FOID-less. Foid what an annoying useless piece O-Cra_

ug, gat was like shooting in a closet from what I remember. (I could be confusing with another shop)

go to joliet mega sports for a much better range experience.

Thanks guys I will have to look into those. I just know Gat will let me and my girl shoot. She has the foid card I am appealing my denial from a incident that happened almost 14 years ago when I was 15. Sad part is I had to hire a lawyer to help me get my foid card... any other state and I wouldnt have 1 issue. I guess that may be my cue to leave this corrupt state.

I don't know if they let you shoot w/out FOID, so you might want to call first.

There's also JR Shooting Sports off Eola in Aurora that's pretty nice. I think they might let you shoot w/out FOID if the owner of the gun is there and has a FOID. But call first too as they might have changed the rules.

yea, megasports will let you shoot with a valid foid holder.

1 foid holder to one non foid.

Rinks in lockport, 355 south to ... i can't remember, I just know where to get off...

Mega sports is nice, but expensive, and is shooting time is timed. Time at Rinks, you pay lane fee, and shoot as much as you want.

Buffalo will let you shoot w/o Foid as long as you are not an Illinois resident, I believe it is mandatory if your are Illinois resident. No problems and great range, usually later in the day is less busy, mornings can be crazy busy on the weekends.

I think GAT is a fine place. You're shooting at a target, who cares what it looks like! That is the closest place to me so that is why I go there. Buffalo is cool if you you an AR since they have a huge pit you can unload on, rapid fire is OK in the pit, it can be fun. If you're into skeet, sporting clays or trap there is a place in WI that is really fun, and pretty cheap, called Winchester Gun Club, open to anyone, nice people, really fun Sporting Clays course and they have a bar!

Just get a FOID card...
If you can't it doesn't mean you can't get a gun in Illinois. No permit checks in many places.
Also if you can't...then do whatever you can to.
Get expunged...get yourself sane again...have your wife have it in her name...whatever
Most important thing is that you honor your 2nd amendment right.

I haven't been to range since my military days. Nobody I have that ever has time to go on my schedule. Which is also chaotic.

CCKC "bristol shooting range" just over the border in Bristol Wisconsin is a great outdoor range and open to the public. No idea how it works for non-member shooting as I shoot there under the membership for my employer, but it might be worth checking out.
