ot - fattening up a dog

I rescued a boxer today. I hadn't planned on rescuing one, but rather adopting one from a friend. That fell through, so we found one at the pound. She is a sweet girl, but waaaaay too skinny. We have to fatten her up because her hips and shoulders make me sad to see.

Any advice?

If you need any further help I recommend contacting the Mountain State Boxer Rescue. They have a website but Im not having any luck finding it. I do have a facebook page for them however.

We have a Boxer that came from this rescue group. She was very malnurished and sick when they found her but she fattened up really well.

Gracie a couple years ago. As you can see, they did well putting weight on her. ;) Good luck with your adoption. We love our Boxers.

Don't know if it would work for a dog or not but for my kittens and cats I give them as well as a bowl of water a bowl of Soy milk. They love the stuff and have one that will actually chase the other off till he gets his fill.

Now for cats it has to be soy milk as they are lactose intolerant. Not sure on dogs.

IME worm her first and the rest will correct itself with a little patiance. Don't start free feeding it will cause more harm than good. Since she is malnourished if you feed her too much it can shock her digestive system and after she gets to the right weight it is harder to reduce her food intake. Finally make sure you use a good quality dog food. Now don't think quality equates to price because if you do some research you will find it doesn't. HTH

Awe Mike looking at Gracie in your after picture makes my heart sing. She's such a big pretty girl now and looks so cute in her pink hoodyl My first dog was a Boxer and they're awesome dogs.

Kung you know we need pictures of your new baby :D
btw Brian is active in dog rescues and knows what he's talking about.
