Ot: Lakers vs Magic

Imagine a Lakers/Cav finals for next year! Kobe, Pau, Shaq & Labrone.

Not gonna happen.

Shaq's washed up IMO. He's been done since he left Miami. last year he already said his last season was going to be the 2009-2010 season. He's got one more year left to build all the hype in Cleveland before they fall short, LeBron leaves and Shaq retires.

GO LAKERS!

I think your wrong. Shaq is old but he still demands a double team. He had a good year last season. He is a big body and they can bring big z of the bench. I think you are right about him not being their next year. The cavs unless shaq takes the veteren minimum which I doubt are going to try to get chris bosh. If the cavs where good last year shaq is only going to make them better. I am a shaq fan so I might be being a lil biased. As a laker fan shaq brought us three rings and is as entertaining to watch. The cavs now have two freaks of nature on their team. Lakers vs cavs finals next year would be awesome!

Shaq demands a double team? Maybe when they are bringing his dinner tray to him, but thats about it. DH12 dominated him this year, even though his numbers didnt show it (only 20 and 7). Adding shaq will be an improvement over Z trying to guard Howard, buts its definitely not the answer. Shaq only had 9 and 5 against Orlando this year. All that means is Orlando (or even boston) is going to push the pace a little more. I dont see this deal being such a huge block buster; Its a couple years too late. The Big irrelevant will look silly against Dwight. At least he has all that padding for those flops.

The Cavs signing Shaq is a desperate move based on this year's disappointment. I agree that Shaq will make them a little better, but it won't win them the championship. Lebron has shown his immaturity this year when the stakes are high and came up short, now the Cavs are showing their immaturity by signing Shaq to make people feel better.

 Flipflop always punch drunk from drinking his Haterade. Always a joy reading his first few smack talk posts in this thread. Go Lakers!!!!! Magic won't make it to the finals next year.

Not drinking Haterade, its a fact. Hes not what he once was. He's just the big irrelevant now. The ONLY thing he brings to cleveland is a lot of size, and the championship experience. But if you listen to SVG, experience doesnt mean anything ;) lol. Im sure there will be plenty of moves to help shift the power around in both divisions, once free agents are available on July 1...... this just isnt a major move. Now if Cleveland adds another player, like a bigger 2 or something, THEN itd be a good move, adding as much talent as possible. This move alone does little.

Yeah, hes as good as a fit in Cleveland as he'd be anywhere. Theyre not as much of a running team as Orlando and Phoenix. Im not saying hes bad, hes just not much (if at all) of an improvement over Z. The ONE thing Z had was a long range shot, so he could bring Dwight from away from the hoop. Shaq doesnt, so DH can just camp out underneath now.

With or without shaq, Im more worried about Boston than cleveland.

MY OH MY... As soon as Cleveland tries to Upgrade, so does Orlando:

The rumor.....
Toronto gets:
Rafer Alston
Tony Battie
Courtney Lee

Orlando gets:
Vince Carter

I love Vinsanity, hes my favorite non magician.... But man, I really like Courtney Lee. He is going to be a very GOOD (probably not GREAT) player. Battie is solid, but DEFINITELY not worth his close to $8m contract. Overall, Orlando ends up paying about $2m more a year to obtain VC. I Guess Orlando is really hoping to win the championship next year, or at least "getting better". Kind of bitter sweet getting rid of Lee, I figured he be with Orlando for a while... I do love me some VC, though. If we keep Hedo, Id have to say Orlando is clearly the #1 team in the East. Im hoping this move for VC doesnt make Orlando think they can let Hedo leave. VC is that guy who can put up 50 points, the guy we need alongside Hedo.

Howard, Lewis, Hedo, Carter, Nelson... Thats 5 all stars starting. If that goes through, a little bit of our depth will need to be addressed, but Id put those starting 5 against anyone elses starting 5 (yes, I know its more than a 5 man game)

Blinding, Obviously LAL worries me. Im just considering the Eastern Conference, though.

How the heck you love VC=Viet Cong. We all hate VC lol...

I hope the magic get vince carter. The black mamba eats him up like a lil rat. Vince is not a good fit for them. They need players for their bench. I also think they need someone like shane battier. Vince just equals less touches for Howard. He is not the same guy as before maybe if we would drive and pass the ball but that guy drives and tries to make circus shots.

He averaged 20 points last year, thats pretty solid. What Orlando needs is that guy who can put up 40 points on occasions. That guy who can go get us a bucket when the Lakers are going on a 16-0 run. VC will be that guy. At this point, DH needs to improve offensively before we worry about getting him touches.

I just hope this doesnt mean Hedo leaves, but I think that is what it means....

So vince's numbers are solid but shaqs are not. If getting vince means losing hedo and three decent players. Bad move IMO. They should try to get Tyson chandler

Losing Lee, Alston, Battie and picking up Vince Carter means we spent $2m more than last year. Losing Hedos $7m means we save $5m this year after all the moves are said and done. If they can parlay that savings into signing a big like Rasheed Wallace for around $5-8m a year, Id really like our chances of winning the title.

On another note, San Antonio made more improvements tonight. Adding Dejuan Blair was a great pick, I dont know how he made it to the second round. They will be a scary team next year, that is for sure.

If I was the Magic GM I'd rather have Hedo than VC. Hedo is more creative off the dribble, is a better passer, and has a better outside shot than VC. He's not as athletic, but when you're playing on a team that relies on 3 point shooting and alley oops for a dominant center that has limited moves except the dunk, you don't need to be that athletic. You just need to drive and kick or drive and finish. If they're able to keep Hedo, then the Magic will be very good next year.

I think VC will benefit us because he doesnt JUST shoot the three. He gives us that option of driving the ball to the hoop and scoring. Orlando has TOO MANY three point shooters. Lewis, Nelson, pietrus and reddick are still very good three point shooters. Im hoping theres another move in the works for Orlando. Adding a Sheed Wallace so he can win another title would be an outstanding move.

IMO if the Magic add VC and Sheed, they will become the Dallas Mavs..acquiring players that were once all stars and now has beens doesn't equate to championships..did you not learn anything from watching the Lakers when they had Gary Payton, Karl Malone and Shaq? Shaq was the only one in his prime at that point and they ended that season in disaster. Why do you think the Mavericks never get anywhere year after year. They should keep Courtney Lee and develop his game and have Alston come off the bench. Lots of potential in Lee.

Exactly, thanks for saying it so I don't have to...again.
