Ill take Ron any day.. Everyone liked TA because he was a defensive player getting lots of half court steals... His 3 range was eh..

Ron has better D, steals balls all day and has a wet jumper from way beyond the arc... 5 for kobe baby!

+1
I think they're a much better team with Artest. Looks like back-to-back for the Lakers.
Let's see who gets the most techs Kobe or Artest :D

Hedo to Toronto now is official. Clearly he didnt care about being on a winning team, he wanted the money. First Orlando's $7m wasnt good enough for him, which I can understand. But to quote Yahoo!:

"Turkoglu had agreed on a five-year, $50 million deal with the Blazers, but changed his mind and is headed for a five-year, $56 million deal with the Raptors."

To make space for the Michael Jordan of Turkey, Toronto let go of Anthony Parker, Shawn Marion and Carlos Delfino. So losing Parker and Marion, but adding Turk now makes them relevant? Enjoy that extra $6m Turk, along with ZERO chance of ever winning a ring.

Im surprised teams havent been looking at Marion much closer. IMO he's a better player than Trevor Ariza, but he just isnt getting that buzz for some reasonl.

Yeah, I cant believe Turkoglu's going to Toronto..I think it had something to do with his wife too. She wanted to live in a more Europeon City. And Toronto is much more of that than Portland..

Plus the extra $6million probably helped that decision as well

Yeah, thats total BS. I used to live in Detroit, which is just over the river from Toronto. Toronto nothing like a European city, if you didnt have to cross a bridge or an underwater tunnel, youd think you were still in Michigan. Toronto is like Canada's Ohio... It's theirs, but they dont really claim it, lol. It was definitely about the $6m lol.

Magic is trying to sign sheed. That would be a good pick up. I don't think sheed wants the minimum though. Jflip, did you hear about Steve Mcnair? That is crazy

i second that toronto is nowhere near a european city. its urbanization/suburbanization smacks of copying an american metropolis. long wide freeways, high crime with unsustainable high housing prices.

the most european'ish (large) canadian city would probably be montreal. vancouver is a wannabe european city. it has all the amenities of an american city with the european aloofness.

i have lived/extended stay in all three cities. that is why i now live here in southern california. it really is the best place in the world to live...and i have lived/extended stayed in all four corners of the united states with some select places in between.

Orlando trying to sign sheed is a smart look. Hopefully we can get him, thatd be nice, it'd put us at the top of the East, but still behind Los Angeles.

The scarier thing for the west is now that Hedo (who is 31) is going to be a Raptor, the Blazers have cash for David Lee. The dude is a double double machine. Hes a lot younger than Hedo, too.

Even with Sheed you guys are 3rd best in east behind Boston and cavs. Your team took a step backward by losing HT and those great young players.

Only one of those players were young, and I dont think he'll ever be great. He'll just be a real good player, who doesnt do anything great, but doesnt do anything bad. With Sheed Orlando is clearly the best in the East.

Bring it on!! Sounds like Boston may not be able to re-sing Leon Powe and Glen Davis. There bench should be a lot weaker (unless they can sign Grant Hill). Sounds like a great finals series.

Ron Ron was *officially* signed today. I can't wait to see BOS-LAL finals.. It's REDEMPTION time

Fisher vs. Rondo
Kobe vs. Ray Ray
Artest vs. Pierce
Pau vs. KG
Bynum vs. Perk

Zen Master vs. One Hit Wonder

Bring it on!!!

People were saying this at this exact same time last year (July 08') & now it's true....

GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!

Huge advantage to Rondo.
Huge advantage to Kobe
Artest will do a very nice job on Pierece
Pau and KG is a draw (scary I am saying that)
Rasheed Wallace has an advantage over Bynum

Looks like it'd be a good series, with the Celtics being a favorite, if LA cant sign Odom again. Especially if Boston signs that loser Hill. As much as I hate the Lakers, I hate Boston even more. If it comes down to it, I'll be wearing an imaginary Lakers hat lol.

coulda fooled us, jflip! :P you did bring up a valid point earlier about david lee though... that team is going to be scary with the addition of a major player. they're pretty stacked as it is.

seriously though. i'm going to miss ariza... whether his playoff shooting was a fluke or not, no one can really put a value on all the things he did for us to get over the hump. i will follow his career in houston with great interest... even though i don't see him and shane on the wing playing very well, seeing how neither of them can handle and penetrate. either way, the rockets got much bigger problems than that

artest... i'm sure we can plug him in right away and he'll do well for the most part. but i get the feeling in any losing game he's going to go off the reservation and jack up 20 ill-advised shots. but i won't really worry until he starts dying his hair crazy colors and gets multiple piercings on his face. haha.

the celtics just got considerable stronger in the frontcourt w/ sheed... but don't they really need a strong perimeter player who can hit a jumpshot? they still haven't addressed the posey gap and the fact that allen and pierce are another year older isn't helping either. still, i see them in the finals vs l.a. i want our revenge. i want the lakers to rip their hearts out and drink their blood. haha. sorry if that was too graphic.
