OT Motorhead's?

This thread ROCKS! Thought this was a salty fish forum... but it's always fun to digress.

I have a couple toys I'll share pics of.

One is a 1966 Mustang convertible I've had since about 1976. I bought it from my father-in-law and restored it which took a few years (1993 - 1995). Has about 2,000 miles on it since then. Fun ride. I brought it from Washington state when I moved here. Funny that I drove it mostly in the summer up there and only drive it in the winter here!

The other is a 1987 Honda VFR 700 F2 Interceptor which I bought in boxes about 5 years ago. Put it back together and rode it for a while until I crashed it. Almost done rebuilding/restoring it now. Completely stripped and redone. Have just some fairing work and painting left to do on it. The pic is at the end of the pavement just beyond Tortilla Flats. Anyone that rides around here knows that's a great strip of twistys! The pic is pre crash.

Just since the post is here I'll share my toy. It's a 1967 VW bug with 8" chopped out of the frame and a fiberglass body. It's a Manx copy, not quite an original but it was purchased brand new by my Aunt in 67, sold to my dad's high school in 71 and his high school project was to chop it into a dune buggy. My grandfather bought it from the school and it's been in my family ever since.

Story aside it's a fiberglass VW dune buggy with an 1835cc motor. Currently out of service because of a small electrical fire and is being completely rewired.

I'll have to check this thread for pics :)

PICTURES! :bounce1:

Thought I would give a little update on the zombie apocalypse vehicle. I decided to bring the roll cage down a little bit to give it a more aggressive look. Compare it to the first pics I posted.

With that guy eating the face of that other guy last week its a sure sign of the coming apocalypse. How is that monster coming along?

Got it street legal now but I need tires and some other stuff before I cruise it more frequently. Just started a new business and bought a new floating toy so the beast is on the back burner for a bit.

I will take a few pics in the next few days but here is a cool picture my buddy took when it was being loaded up in the rain.

Well the Supra runs on E85 so they are similar in the fact that they dont use a lot of gas.
:lolspin:
Minus the fact the energy content of E85 is lower, and you need more E85 fuel in a turbo application.
I promise it'd get better mileage on pump, and tuned for it. But then it wouldn't be nearly as fun.
Regardless, nice grab. :)

Very true, but E85 is cheaper and runs cooler. I figure its about a wash with it being cheaper but requiring more fuel to go the same distance.

Eh, in the turbo world, it's usually a bit more expensive. But that's always in constant flux due to fuel prices. It was always cheaper a few years ago when the E85 price was under $2.

Really, you must think of it as cheap race gas. And it's MUCH cheaper than that. :D

For anyone who doesn't know motors, these comments ONLY apply to forced induction applications.

E85 is a nice compromise between race gas and premium in that it has a higher octane than premium for those boosted high compression engines.

My next restoration, after the VFR is finished, is a '67 Sunbeam Alpine that I want to convert into a Tiger killer. The Sunbeam Tiger is the same as an Alpine but had a small block Ford 260 V8 turning out 200+hp and was nose heavy. Maxwell Smart in the TV series "Get Smart" drove a Tiger. The Alpine has a 4 cylinder 1726cc engine and a great weight ratio for handling. Neighborhood of 100hp depending on carbs used. I'm thinking a lighter V6 might be a good option. Wondering if the Supra engine would fit? I'll have to check it out!
