OT - Snowmageddon

no one should take power outage, and over a foot of snow lightly. everyone stay safe, BC you have to keep your reef safe..lol but seriously unprepared people are the first to call for help.. everyone be safe, and be ready

My point exactly. Nothing like having no heat and emergency personel not being to reach you! Check on your family members as this will not be 6 inches of snow.

more people get hurt this way. this is idiotic, and unacceptable to risk others. it didn't hurt me any to be ready, and it also allowed me to help other who need it.

if anyone needs help in my area, don't hesitate to ask. most around me have my number, just call:)

Pfizer actually closed the site today - almost unheard of unless the Gov. declares a state of emergency. I've been there 25 years and we have only closed a handful of times - sent home early because of Hurricane Bob, closed a few days for a terrible explosion some years ago and a day or two off for Sandy. Stay safe and at home!

i am prepared.. but jsut dont trust any weathermen...

gennerator fuels and an extra 25 gallons of gas, wood stacked and ready, 2 cord, and D batteries for the aerator just in case.

also have 20 gallons of saltwater ready in case things get bad and i need a water change after the storm.

i am just Hoping for 6 or less.... but have 2 inches now and no signs of stopping, maybe it will switch to rain

I found out when Sandy came through that my generator burns a gallon of gas per hour. I don't mind snow, but I hope we don't lose power, at least not for an extended period.

Mine claims 1 quart/hour at full load. I only wanted something good enough to keep the fridge cool.

Good thing its cold out!!! Put the beer in the snow!!!

Hey, it'll keep the fridge, freezer, tank, and a light running. Though I'm sure that it would shut down if both the fridge and freezer started at the same time.

It's a Yamaha ef2000is. I wanted something my wife could carry, or at least move, by herself and could be taken out on Scout trips, etc. since it is an inverter generator, it produces clean power for sensitive electronics.

That was a huge mistake. The grocery store was a mob scene tonight!! I got out of work late so I didn't have much of a choice. I think so folks forget we live in New England and a Nor Easter isn't the end of the world....

went to stop n shop in wallingford an hour ago...only a few people there, but disgruntled employees. I guess they're on normal hours today.

And there goes the power in Groton long point. No where to put the generator during the storm. Time to duct tape heat packs to the tank and hope for the best. It doesn't look good.

Just reach the 11 inch of snow mark. Trees are snapping due to the weight of the snow... It's only a Matter of time....

I was wrong... It's over 6 inches....

Can't tell the depth here because the wind is easily up to 35-40mph and it's drifting like mad. I hope the tarp is still on my generator outside.

Still have power, no trees falling yet that I can hear, but my walls are thick.

I'm trying to get a fire started but the draft is pretty sketchy with the wind.

Anyone else working!!! Wooohooo

The wood stove is on/ The power is still on, but we only have 3-4" so far. Expecting more than a foot tonight. Fortunately, by pure luck both aquariums are on circuits run by the generator should it be needed (it waits under a tarp too).
