OT - Snowmageddon

There's very little visibility out the windows right now. No way to tell the snowfall total anymore, it's all over the place.

I've got some plywood to run my gen under if I have to, but so far power is good (crossed fingers).

Last time we lost power I stoked the woodstove until it was over 90 in here, that seemed to do it. :-) Didn't lose a single fish (cat at one the following month.) :/

I just had this out but I didn't get any pictures on my pass up and down the drive.

Lost our power at 6:30. What good are underground utilities when the power coming in us so easily interrupted? Got the generator going so the tank will be fine. Very nasty out there with thunder & lightening

Sorry to hear that Leslie. I hope your tank is OK throughout the night.

ok....just got inside from playing tackle the girlfriend in the middle of the road...who said playing in the snow is just for kids!

Some dude in a pickup just showed up to plow our street. Our town doesn't have town plows anymore, we hire these small contractors, evidently. I'm sure there's no nepotism going on or anything.

Guy made 25 passes with his little pickup plow in one direction down my street. I counted.

25.

I can't possibly believe that the 30 minutes (nearly) he spent on my 300ft dead end road is cost effective for the town over a town plow. Not a chance.

He left me a nice 3.5 foot bank at the end of my driveway for morning. Can't wait.

At least a foot in Thompson as of now, maybe a bit over a foot but the power is still on and everything is still running smoothly here. I may be in for a world of hurting tomorrow but I'm not gonna break out the snowblower until it stops snowing. Probably a mistake but it is what it is I guess, lol

Very close to 2 feet in Chaplin. Wind is rippin but the power is still on. So far I've shoveled my deck, stairs and walkway 5 times. Starting to get old but other wise i wouldn't be able to open my storm door....

What a night. Been rocking some thunder storm the past couple hours too. I can't wait to go play in the jeep. Anyone ever sled at Wickham Park in Manchester? Love that hill.

Wow that's alot of snow! Forget the generator, I want a snowmobile,

Forget the snowmobile, I want a snowblower. I just spent two hours shoveling and I got the walkway from my front door to the driveway (only about 10' long) and about halfway around our cars. It's going to be a long day.... better get started on some beer muscles soon.

Disclaimer: For those of you who think I'm an alcoholic, you may very well be correct. However, the beauty of working third shift is that I can justify drinking at any hour of the day...

Just woke up to 25" on the deck (Which I had cleared before I went to bed). Hard to tell how much we really got because it has been blowing all over the place. My picnic table has no snow on top of it but my car is missing in a drift!

Unofficially I measured 18" of snow, but we had about 2 hours of sleet last night as well and it is still snowing.

Going to eat a good breakfast then start up the snowblower to start digging out! Figured it should take at least 2-3 hours, or at least that is my hope.

Be safe everyone today while digging out!

Looks like I got off pretty easy. I estimate about a foot out there (South shore of Nassau county). I'm going to drink a pot or so of coffee, and then fire up the 'ol snow blower.
