Our 40g Island waterfall

Thanks brother , man was it hard coming home to all that we had never been so happy over a build then we were with this one but you know what it's in the past and we decided to see it through so glad tos ay the tanks on its way:)

I'm building my zoas collection back up starting to run out of space but if your free one weekend I got a few gold mauls made up and you can have one :)

Don't supposed you want some mangroves I know a fella with a couple lol

OK so got a pic sent to me of one of our side panels, what was once a 1/4" thick piece of black acrylic after hydrodipping is now a cool abstract back splash pattern to match our marble and granite octopus mosaic front :)

Pretty cool I must say :)

Hey guys:)

So just came back from my shift out of town this time I had no one to watch the tank so I filled up the sump to the top shut off the skimmer and hoped for the best lol in hindsight not a great plan but all I could do at the time lol

Well tank faired extremely well , had a bit of color loss with no one to feed the tank and the lower salinity with me filling the sump up but other than that the only casualty was my red dragon acro:(

Red mangroves are spewing roots and same with my whites so soon we should start to see leaves:)

I head out tonight again for a week and the wife is home this time but she comes out with me next week and then the tanks on its own for another week or two lol

Panels are done from hydrodipping so I'll grab pics of that soon and front is ready to be set and then grouted should be Hella cool to see how it comes out:)

Vinegar had been stopped as I had no way to dose it as my wife was gone away for a couple weeks so may have also helped with the color loss as no one's there to feed

Cheato in my sump is a solid brick from end to end so I'll trim this on my next trip home

I did take some pics so I'll post them here now shortly:)

Cheers gang:)

White mangroves still doing there thing root system is getting larger so far so good on these guys still at full fresh water ......try counting them if your up for the task lol

Reds are shooting roots at a good rate now to won't be long till we see leaves , these guys are pretty much at full salinity and will soon get separated into smaller clusters ......long ways before they hit my tank though lol

OK so it's now been quite a few weeks since I've been home a friend of mine is watching the tank for us and he's been doing an amazing job can't thank him enough , I have my wife and daughter up with me while we finish this job but we come home next weekend for a bit so we're excited to see how things are growing:)

Not much to update as I'm not home lol

But.....

We took some mangroves with us so while mangroves arnt the most exciting update in the world I am excited to see them growing , here's some pics

Whites breaking their seeds it's soon time for substrate and leaves then I start the pain staking task of acclimating these to salt water , the pukani rock has tons of small holes ideal to plant these in so once at reef salinity I'm planting countless amounts of white mangroves around the water line and rock work should be cool .......in like 5 years lol

Whites progress

When we first got them just seedlings

Eventually broke roots simply in fresh water under bright lights

And now breaking their seeds

Reds were just pods when we first got them no signs of life really at this stage

Eventually we got roots woot woot

And now just breaking their tops for first leaves and new growth from its tip

Not much of a reef update but next week I'll have lots of pics and a video :)

Cheers

Update

After being away for a month this time the tank fared pretty well, I guess I forgot to set my timer to automatic so our lights were running for a month straight lol with that said the lights being on all the time did bleach some things but I don't think I lost anything, lights on for so long did kill off all my brown cloves so that's a huge bonus lol
Cleaned some algae and freshened up the tank and I'm gone for another 2 weeks today

Have some more zoas frags ordered and added yesterday some blue hornets , Captain America's and some funky orange Rhodactis shroom

White mangroves have broken there shells woot woot !!

Pics coming up plus I took a decent video I'll post , lights are fixed and I'm hoping color returns quickly

Cheers:)

Success!!!

Whites have broken their seeds and tops are off revealing the actual mangrove

It's a small victory but I'll take it , enjoy some pics

Not all are out but you can see where Def on the way

Put a few for testers along the waters edge salinity will probably kill them but I got 400 so why's a few in the name of science lol

Here's a rough idea of our plans for the whites were going to stick then in the pukani just below surface and sticking out
