Outdoor Frag Tank - After Rainiest California Winter in 15 years

Hi Folks,

Whenever someone sees my outdoor frag tank, the first question is always - "What do you when it rains?"

And I always say... Nothing - The fish and corals are already wet - they don't care.

The past few months in Los Angeles has been the rainiest winter in over 15 years and in a period of a few weeks California ended a 7 year drought.

Here is what my 180g out door frag tank looks like after all the rain came down.

I don't sell frags, so please don't ask how much. If you are local in So Cal, come on by and I will be happy to give you frags. But I don't ship free corals, and I don't sell corals.

I would love to have an outside reef tank, but CT weather is not conducive. So, did the rains exceed ATO requirements?

Really cool build, love how you did everything. Cool how you going your own direction with such a build.

Ca1ore/ Simon,

I checked at the height of the rains and I didn't find a single day that the topoff did not run at all.

Because of the exposed surface area of all my tanks, even on days when it rains (normal not downpour) we still need to add up to 15g of water.

your tank evaporates 15 gal a day?

Nice frag tank!

I would love to have an outside tank, but unfortunately I would have frozen frags and fish 8 months out of the year!
