Thank you! Its been a very slow process with everything going on. As usual im waiting for items before i can proceed which isn't terrible as I've been busy with work and other projects. Most of my components for my cnc machine are here so i should have something within a month to start building more stuff for my tank.

I love when new people join the thread. They're so excited as it seems like everything moves so quickly. Lol im glad nobody pays attention to time stamps. Lol

Welcome aboard!

Just read your entire thread and it scared me to death! I just acquired a 220 gallon. After looking at your pictures, I'm not so sure I can do this!

Over the last week and a bit, I received my long awaited corbels. They have since been painted black pre-drilled and mounted to the stand. I have also taken the time to coat the stand with an acrylic primer prior to starting the stone work. I have also taken out that expensive sheet of bamboo and ripped a few 6" lengths out of it for my ledge. They are now sitting in my dining room acclimatizing. I will laminate them this weekend and hopefully install them the following weekend.

Tonight I had a friend over who helped me wire up the majority of the fish room downstairs. I have to say, it looks really good and I'm motivated to keep the progress moving forward. I have a bit more items to add in but then I will be able to insulate, vapor barrier and drywall. Everytime, my wife is out of the house, its prime building time!

Pictures to follow in the next few days.
Cheers
Rob

Have been slowly working away at the stand. I finished facing it, primed it with an acrylic primer and have mounted all five supporting corbels. I have machine each one to accept pocket hole to secure the bamboo top in place. With the help of my close friend Al, we shaped the bar top over the course of a few nights prior to installation. I have since applied one coat of deftoil (tung oil) to the laminated ledge. Here are some pictures with the first coat.

I had some spare time so I started prepping for the stone. Unfortunately I didn't have very much motar left over from my last bathroom project. I really like the Kesiel brand which from germany and is sold at places like tilemaster. The product I use to do wall tiles and the like is called servo lite. Anyways I need to pick up a few bags of that tomorrow after work so that I can get as much of this done after the baby goes to sleep at night. :)

I got 5 pieces up before I ran out of mix.

Looking good Padrino. What brand stone did you end up going with?

It is a cultured stone. It was half the weight of quartz or flagstone which was huge as my tank and stand are currently estimated at 3000lbs. I actually was looking through the links you posted and found a dealer close to me, Stone Selex. Needless to say I will be trying to complete this during the week.

Excellent, can't wait to see how it turns out. I love the stacked stone look - exactly what we used for our fireplace surround. I'm thinking of doing something similar around my tank as well. :)

Awesome work on the stand! Cant believe how much effort and attention is going into this build. :)

That rock work is hot!!!
How will you protect the rock (if necessary) from the occasional splash of saltwater?

Ledge hangs over the rock quite a bit but should it see some water,it won't be a big deal.
Glad to have you along.
Cheers
