Perry's 120 Gallon Reef

Need more pictures of the Red Robin Perry! :)

Hey Mark,
Planning on trying to get some pics soon, I assure you, the RR is in top form, lol... I will certainly get a few pics for you man :)

It's definitely taking off! That would be so cool getting to witness the sex change of the anthias! :) I will hopefully do the same sort of thing with all females just so I can watch one change!

Thanks Dom, it is super cool to watch the pecking order of the anthias in the tank, most certainly cool to watch that female transition to a male :) Been doing AF for 3 months now, coral and fish seem happy and healthy. Thanks for stopping by and checking in on the thread mate :)

Perry have you transitioned to the Component 1,2,3 yet? I'm going to be switching my 60 gallon over to AF too and want to give it a try!

I can only imagine how cool it would be lol
They definitely all seem and look very healthy with lots of purdy growth and delicious colours :inlove: lol keep the updates flowing though! I think we'd all hate to miss out haha

I need a RR :hmm4:

Its all your fault ! :D

Not common to find red stags Arlin, I had been hunting this one down for years locally, but never found it, then one day a buddy tore down his reef and donated lots of coral and fish, that was one of them. It was a mini-colony then, about the size of a baseball. It is now about the size of a softball or larger. If you can get a piece of it, do it! The coral will help accent any sps reef :)

Tim,
This week, I am finally out of 2 part, and the shop I work at carries it, so hopefully before the end of the week I will have more info for you. I have the dosing equipment, and everything lined up, just been dealing with siatic nerve issues, so I have not been motivated to do anything lately, ughh...

Thanks Dom,
The computer where I process photos is not connecting to network, the usb wifi stick is jacked up and needs replacing. I just have not been out to get it mate, as soon as I do, I can process photos and update on photobucket, until then, this will remain a pretty boring thread :)

Perry, how are you anthias doing? Still have the original count?

Corey

Hey Corey,
I lost 2 of the 5 female lyretails shortly after introducing. The are healthy, one of the 3 is turning male, so that is pretty cool to witness. I also added 3 bimaculatus females into the tank, they were added 3 weeks or so ago, and all appear happy! So I have 6 doing well :)

Have you been doing crazy exercises to relieve the pain? When I blew a disc Physical Therapy saved my ***, and left leg, and foot. It also helped that the therapist was cute. :p My left foot will still occasionally go numb if I don't do exercises daily. Losing 20lbs would also help, but me and food are close friends.

I really think bending over to stare into the tank is worse than heavy lifting. :lolspin:

I hope you feel better soon, sciatic pain is NO FUN!

You're lucky, my wife just underwent her second micro-discectomy surgery on the same vertebrae on Tuesday. Her disc re-herniated and she had been reduced to walking with a cane:sad1:

I just brought her home last night, she seems to be doing better than after the first surgery so hopefully this one does the trick:thumbsup:

Oh man, yea, I am certainly lucky that is wasn't debilitating. Hopefully it will work out for your wife. Stupid backs anyway.

It seems a poorly designed body part...
She will get a fusion if there is further trouble with this vertebrae, that would solve the problem more completely at the expense of some mobility she doesn't have now anyway. Here Dr. is supposed to be the best of the best so I'm hoping it will stick.

Hi Perry, 2 years ago, 2 weeks before I had to go for an oversea tour, I had a sciatica attack. I thought I had to drop out and skipped the long planned vacation. But then, I did daily 20mins stretches and one to two miles walks. Just couple of days before the trip, all the pain were gone. I was so lucky. As of now, it has not come back.
Hope you feel better. Always love your tank.

Yikes !! Sorry to hear that perry!

My mother when threw some recently. She had surgery few weeks ago and has been feeling much better . Hope you can get that resolved real soon.

My Dad had fusion way way back before there were any other options. Big scar but it worked perfectly and he never had anymore back pains.

Hey Perry, are we making you feel any better? :D

WOW,
Thanks for all the love guys, I am also dealing with gout in my knee, so that isn't helping. Right when I was feeling relief in the knee, it attacked my foot. So siatic on left side and right knee and foot impacted with gout. I have made a decision to go back to plant based foods, super foods, organics, and a holistic approach to life and well being. This has been a miserable 4 weeks +, but I feel I can see the light ahead. Unfortunately I allowed myself to get off my game back when the restaurant burned down, this is where I made some great strides with my tank, but set backs with my health and well being. I am thankful that you guys have been so supportive and sending me well wishes. Soon I will be back in the water, back in the gym, and in the garden. BALANCE :)

Sorry to hear about your health issues Perry. I hope your sciatica nerve does not give any more grief and pain. Are you undergoing any physiotherapy?

We ALL need a RR!! It's crazy..
Good idea on the food front for the gout- it's very food related, I think.. I get it in my big toe from time to time but when I avoid the sugar, simple carbs and red meat, it helps..
Sciatica is a tough one, though.. Good luck with that!

Hey Bulent,
My goal is to recover through nutrition, massage, streching, and working out. I am a surfer, so my goal is to be in surfing shape, I am not! I missed the winter swells, and missed many, due to being out of shape, that and not wanting to buy a new wetsuit(Large wouldn't fit) :) The spring has come, and I am now ill. In the upcoming weeks, my goal is VERY simple. To get back in the salt, catch some waves. This is the biggest form of cure, both mentally and physically, the salt water has a way of relieving joint stress, I just need to be well enough to get out there :) Thanks for the well wishes, now back to some reefing stuff mate!

Make an excuse to be at RAP in Orlando in two weeks :) I will be there with RR and Acid Trip, and more, with the LFS(Stormborn Reef) I work at part time. We will have a booth with 3 20 gallon frag setups, same isle as JF and WWC, should be a blast :)

I hear you on the gout bud, totally food related, that and beer. I like food, and I like beer, but I like being healthy and mobile more, so maybe it is time for change. "If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got" Hope all is well my friend :)

If I could bring coral over the border, legally, it'd almost be worth the trip.
Post some pics from the event, it's fun seeing all those crazy coral people..
Makes me feel less weird! :)
Beer.... Pure carbs and uric acid crystals!! Bad for the belly and gout!! That's a two'fer.
Maybe you should go high class and start drinking two buck chuck. :)
