Petco is acquiring Drs. Foster & Smith

hey if they started having live aquarium organisms I might actually buy from them... at least they day they came in.

thats true I meant the day they came in for that exact reason but yes that is true. Though if they got corals and stuff I would probably go for it just dip and quarantine.

Im pretty sure its business as usual as long as Kevin remains running LA/DD. they would be foolish to change things at this point.

At least I hope :/

Let's hope there is some good in this. Their aquarium division is probably one of the smaller divisions. I just don't see the whole thing being shut down unless it cannot substain it self on the books. Only time will tell.

When a 3.3B company acquires a 250M company they have already decided how they're taking it over and integrating it. They may leave the brands alone at first but all decisions will be made at Petco within 3-6 months of the deal closing.

well lucky we live in Cali.. fish are pretty easy to find. LFS can order just about any fish too. Specially in LA. the folks living elsewhere (beside FL) are the ones suffering

PETCO in Northridge has always taken good care of me. I purchased a beautiful Fridmani Pseudochromis for :$19.99..... Which I had for 5 years until I tore down my tank in April this year. Can't wait until I get back in the hobby, but I WILL DEFINITELY continue using PETCO for some livestock. This would definitely cut down on the hefty shipping cost that came with purchasing from Dr Foster's and Smith. Change is good....right?

Time will tell but I will remain optimistic that the future of LA will, at the least, remain the same and will only get better!

Well the good news is that Petco is planning to have their corporate hq in San Diego. Maybe they'll move LA here???
