Pete's 110 build

here is one of before I installed it the first time. I had planned for the water to flow out the slots on the top of inner pipe into the outer pipe and finally out the slots in the bottom of the outer pipe. There was so much flow I ened up just cutting the smaller pipe shorte ( no slots) and added 2 more slots to the outer pipe and it worked great.

I know I made a sketch of it but I'll have to dig around my old photobucket account to see if I can find it.[/QUOTE]

I like this... I tried something similar by making "swiss cheese" out of pvc but didn't work out quite so well. I have some acrylic I might try using for something similar to this.

hey Fey

that corrogated pipe is only a couple bucks a 10' section. I'd check yor local hardware store and see if they have any damaged pieces that you cout cut up

lets see whos paying attention

what is this?

My issue is space. I'm working with a 20 long for a sump. If it wasn't for wanting an ATO i think I would've gone with a 29. The acrylic I have is just some stuff I have laying around. I don't intend to attach it to the glass just do pretty much the same thing as you did with the corrugated pipe. Plus I have a reverse durso for an obstacle too. Hit my profile up and you can find my build thread. There are pics there. :-)

Those sun corals look amazing, what are you feeding them?

cyclopseze and mysis but I want to feed them more so I may move them higher in the tank, it's kind of a pain feeding them where they are

I just placed an order with Avast Marine for the skimmer bypass mod, the ozone reactor and a media reactor :)

I ordered the Ozone reactor and a media reactor for GAC from Avast Marine last week. They came in last night, again I have to commend Justin and the Avast team for great quality products and service. I also ordered the skimmer recirc mod.

We have a tank tour this weekend so I'll be doing some major sump cleaning tonight and tomorrow.

last week I ordered a skimmer recirc mod kit, an ozone reactor and a media reactor from Avast Marine. The assembly was easy and came with everything you need including glue and well laid out instructions.

The reactor on the left is the ozone reactor. Tank water will go through a venturi on top where it will blend and mix with the ozone inside the chamber. The chamber is packed full of HDPE material to increase contact time. The seals are made from ozone safe silicone and the unit includes an gas flow rate meter.

The reactor on the right will be filled with activate carbon and will nutrilize the ozone reactor effluent

ozone, or trioxygen, is a triatomic molecule, consisting of three oxygen atoms. It is an allotrope of oxygen that is much less stable than the diatomic allotrope (O2). Like any other oxidizers (including bleach) it will attack more stable molecules like large protiens and break then down. Ozone when used properly will help break up the heavy proteins that build up in a reef tank allowing the skimmer to more easily carry them off in the bubble column. Another nice side effect of it breaking up the larger protiens is a significant improvement to water clarity.

Watching the pods walk around between the polyps of the monti early on in the video was crazy! I kept waiting to see if one of the polyps would decide it was a tad hungry...

We really enjoyed getting to see your tank again last weekend, it sure is looking great!

thanks - I'm sorry I didn't make the rest of the tour but we had other commitments. One of these days I hope to see Donzi's and your setup

I never saw those until I saw the video for the first and was like oh cra? I have some pest. Then on closer look I saw that they were small pods not bothering the coral at all. And like you, I thought the coral may decide to have a snack :)

No problem, Pete. David took video of everyone's tank, but not sure what they're planning on doing with it.

he told me he was going to post them on DFWMAS

Your continues to be one of my favorite tanks. Incredible. Do you have a summary of all your equipment somewhere?

What lighting do you use for your videos?
