Pheonix 185 Build Thread

The wife always disliked the HVAC return and the built-in above it for stereo equiptment so......
the builtin has been removed and the wall is being drywalled and painted. the HVAC return will actually be routed through the stand. The filter holder will be the left end access point to under the stand. the right side access point will be a false panel held by magnets. The plywood you see in the first 2 pics is actually the front and will be covered in ceramic tile trimmed w/ red oak to match the fireplace. So no easy from access for Bill and I get to keep the tank:)

I should mention there will be nothing under the stand, but access to the bulkheads just in case. all equipt will be in the basement.

How big a piece do you need? I have an extra overflow at home for my curretn tank. It's about 18" wide and 20" high with Teeth cut in.
Bill

I am thinking of going coast to coast between the overflows so about 36"x 6" or 8". How far up the teeth was the water level when you had the tank set up and at what return flow rate? I expect a 1.5" wave and do not want to overflow.

You should be able to see the old water line on the overflows, That being said you will have a very noisy tank with a 1 1/2" wave due to the overflows will start to drain and then run out of water for a short time and they will make a sloshing sound as I had Aquasurf running on that tank and about a 1" wave max is all you can do b4 it starts to get noisy. (Sloshing as the overflows drain and then refill) will be your problem. I don't see how a coast to coast will make any difference as far as the wave goes. JMO

The center of the tank is the "piviot point" of the standing wave so the waer level in the cener remains constant while the peaks and valleys are on the ends. This holds true for the usual mode structure used by the wavebox. It is possible to use very short timing (feq/2) and get four peaks and two pivots, but i doubt this would work in a 5' tank.

Good tip on the water line. I will check it out.

This is getting exciting
