maybe i've been doing something wrong over the years, but i've found that bright blues and deep purples like two opposite ends of the nutrient-load spectrum
most tanks have corals from lagoons, back slopes, and reef crests all in one box... most have collections from different geographies and even different oceans
hard to make all of those guys happy under the same conditions

i can strip my tank and have vivid/glowing blues
purple... still not an expert on purples... but looking back thru my own pic library... i get more purple when there is a little bit of algae around.
