Picasso / Rodonyx FIRST BATCH OF EMBRYOS

sorry guys, no vide cam set up yet. i did not realize how time consuming it is raising these little guys.

also at this point they look like all perc babies. just a simple headband. ill post as things change.

below is day 16.

What is the estimate number of this batch at this time? Surely not 600. You really have your hand full if this is the case.

orion, im down to about 100 :(

still trying to figure out some things. :( its definetly not a walk in the park, culturing larvae.

sorry my mind is else where as you know. im crossing my fingers .

just bought more supplies. for a total of 5 larvae rearing tanks. i spent another 150 on supplies. i better get some nice babies from this venture :)

no sorry, i just took a cpr intank refugium i had laying around.used a dremel to cut a ret. piece out on one side. and added a rio pump on other side. had some foam laying around. cut that to fit around the rio. than found a piece of plastic with slits thru it to block the pump.

all you need is to have a box and create uneven flow out of it. and cover teh pump so the babies do not get sucked in. thats the main principle around it.

update on 3rd batch. all appears good. expect hatch on thurs/fri. around 600. im going to try a very diff approach for this batch.

batch 1: 30 at day 17
batch 2: 100 at day 6

every batch ill try something diff until i achieve a 90% yeild.

regarding the cam for the parents. im looking into it. i found a really good one that someone recommened, but its 500. a little beyond my rationality for a fish cam. anyway if anyone can suggest a wireless cam under 200 i would definetly hook it up.
i might have no choice but to find a security camera setup with multiple cams to show all my clowns. this way when im away im not so paranoid what is happening with them. im sure all you clown fanatics understand what i mean :)

I'm inspired...

I've heard you can also collect the fry simply by having a moonlight or small flashlight and a bowl, just scooping them up as the swim towards the light. Seems much easier than an auto-collection system, though I suppose it would have the disadvantage of you'd have to be awake and paying attention when they hatched.

Any news on the young? I'm anxious!

It took me a while to realize that this was top down picture. Great pictures. Are these the 19 days old clowns?

hey minh, yes they are :)

i just orderd a 10x macro lens, so i should be able to get better pics by end of the week.

i would love to have a few cameras on my fish to look at i have been away for about a week and a half and i am worried all the time

those bubbles could really throw someone off, good thing i read that it was top down so i knew what was coming!

excellent video!
