Pife's One fifty glass box build

:) last couple years.
The new ones even have wifi video transfer, as well. Unfortunately mine doesn't or I'd have plenty more videos of my tank posted.

Thanks for the tips with the flowand always good to learn camera jargon. I wish I had a couple of grye but I don't. The sea swirls are motorized returns that rotate back and forth.

I glued my patch on the inside of the overflow. It wasn't to bad but I will don't know if it leaks. I'll cut a couple stand pipes and do a leak test on it tomorrow. I want to give it a day to cure. I mounted one of the lights and boy I've missed that glow on the first floor.
Here's the view laying down on my couch!

Oh! I don't know why I read gyres. I love sea swirls. I've used them in a couple tanks. My favorite positioning for them was always the front two corners. They are the only flow device low profile enough to mount on the front. I loved being able to give my corals flow from the front. 905% of tanks only have side and back flow. With them on the front, and your mps on the back and sides, you'll have the absolute best, natural growth patterns. Random flow from all sides. Corals will love it.

Now that you say it I wish I could put them in the front. With the way my canopy sits I can't. Or I just can't see a way to do it.

On another note one of my skimmer pumps shot craps. I have a replacement in route. I need to buy a couple specialized plumbing fittings tomorrow to have a back up on the shelf. I need to put a drain in the bottom of the skimmer body to make cleaning and maintaining it easier.

I woke up to a flood today! 30 gallons in the floor. The broken skimmer pump I put back in line was the cause. I didn't have any salt water made up so I had to mix some real quick. But I got it topped back off. Luckily my ato was almost empty too so salinity wasn't effected to much. After all that I still made it to work on time

There haven't been any losses except an Anthias unexpectedly got double Popeye. They are 5 years old and huge so I don't know what's going on with that. I haven't seen her today or if I did she didn't have Popeye so that's a good thing.

On anther note the my cheato reactor is starting to grow again. I also put an led over some cheato in my sump to see what it would do.

I bought some new corals last week and they all seem to be doing well. I'm excited about them as I've been wanting the OG purple monster for a long time and finally have 2 frags. It isn't colored up by any means. All the coral I bought are basically brown except for the Mr Pac-Man that is.

This wd is finally coloring up.<a href="http://s837.photobucket.com/user/PfeifferBrandon/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-05/20170529_171559_zpsluzovcy3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz298/PfeifferBrandon/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-05/20170529_171559_zpsluzovcy3.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20170529_171559_zpsluzovcy3.jpg"></a>

I think all of my coral have had a positive response from changing to big E's light combo.

Last week I discovered that one of the two needle wheel pumps that power my skimmer wasn't working. I removed it and went to clean it and found it it was bad. Order in a replacement and finally have it back in and working as of today. For some reason over the last 12 hours I believe the tank is cleared tremendously not that it was dirty to begin with but it seems that a skimmer and the oxygen that it puts into your tank just helps clean the water. My cheato growth is still doing very well I have not measured nitrates I wanted to do that one I got the skimmer back up and running. I'll measure them tonight so I can track how they'll lower now that I'll be able to skim out a lot more bacteria. I'm going to assume that if I look back in my notes I could figure out when my skimmer pump quit working as my nitrates probably started increasing then. I think it'll be nice to get back down to around 5 and colors will just be amazing.

On a side note the patch that I made for the inside of my overflow didn't hold as I had a very small drop of water coming out every couple seconds. I am debating now to have a new overflow made and cut this one out so that I have no hesitations when the power's out that my whole tank will drain. Does anybody know if anyone's replaced a Marineland overflow? I'm interested in know how people get the silicone completely off the glass so that the new silicone will hold.

Glad to hear about the pump issue being resolved.
Pife, couldn't you use pvc glue on those holes? I'm not exactly sure but I think pvc glue will actually break down/melt the existing plastic and once dry form a solid bond..
This had got to be easier than cutting out the whole thing and redoing it. .

I'm using weld on 16. It works good. I cut a patch to fit the hole now that it has a backer and it worked! No more leaks. Plumbing is curing and I should have it filled by the end of the weekend!

Thanks guys. I'm planning a Father's day fill up. It will be easy to remember how old it is then.

Tonight I bought some goodies to get all the electric straightened out and mounted the way I want. Tomorrow and Sunday should be fun! I also dumped in a 150lbs of sand. I'd amazing what some rock and same can do for making a tank come alive.

Dude that rockwork is narsty! That's narley and nasty all in one word... I don't use it often but when I do I may mispell the narley part... Is it knarley, narley, or narely? I dunno but I like it either way :)
