the tenicals are not expanding, it is slowly turning white in areas, and is as hard as a rock. did it die? should I remove it from the tank? everything else in the tank is fine.

Yes, it's dying. Once you start seeing tissue sloughing off get it out. I really wish they would ban collection and importation of these long tentacle plates. Maybe someone can bring attention to this issue, it's a serious one

Favia reproduce at death: little ones should grow around the edges.
Offer it sliced shrimp: if it isn't dead, that should wake it up.

I know you meant Fungia, not Favia ;) , and your right about babies sprouting from the old plate. given time and quality water, dozens of babies can pop up in a few months time.

long tentacle plates dont do well in aquariums i bought one not knowing and it just wasted away over time... i was feeding it mysis shrimp once a week

They have horrible survival rates, probably the worst of any coral in the trade along with Gonipora.

Wow... I had no idea.. I have only had mine about a week and it is doing wonderful hopefully it doesn't crap out.. I usually do not buy something without research but I thought they were only slightly less hardy than a short tentacle... Well lets see what happpends!

Hopefully you have a healthy specimen, but IME long tentacle plates have a 30-40% survival rate. Good luck
