the tenicals are not expanding, it is slowly turning white in areas, and is as hard as a rock. did it die? should I remove it from the tank? everything else in the tank is fine.
Yes, it's dying. Once you start seeing tissue sloughing off get it out. I really wish they would ban collection and importation of these long tentacle plates. Maybe someone can bring attention to this issue, it's a serious one
I know you meant Fungia, not Favia , and your right about babies sprouting from the old plate. given time and quality water, dozens of babies can pop up in a few months time.
Wow... I had no idea.. I have only had mine about a week and it is doing wonderful hopefully it doesn't crap out.. I usually do not buy something without research but I thought they were only slightly less hardy than a short tentacle... Well lets see what happpends!
