How about this:

one christmas wrasseinverts will be at risk
one leopard wrasse all species need a mature tank as they hunt for copepods, some species are easier than others but none are easy
two anthias (not sure which type) Tank may be a bit small for two, carberryi may work
one flame angel

Hello...need some help...I have a 220 gallon dt with several fish including:
Blue jaw trigger
Powder blue tang

Fox face (black and yellow one)
Orange diamond sand sifting goby
4 scissor tails
Three anthias (not sure name)
Purple tilefish
Royal gramma
2 perc clownfish
Six line wrasse
Fairy wrasse

I was wondering if I can put a magnificent Foxface in there with the other fox face?

I also have close to 50 different corals ranging from lps, sps, softies, zoos, and palys
Also have a blue sponge
4 feather dusters
Lukani starfish (red)
And a major cuc:
About 200 nassarius snails

I have a 75g DT w/ a 20g Sump. Currently i have 2 small (1") orc clownfish, a small CUC and some zoanthid polyps (a very nice hitchhiker). My goal is a Mixed Reef Tank. I have not chosen any LPS or SPS out yet. I am new to saltwater, but my wishlist includes, but not limited to:

x1 yellowfin flasher wrasse
x2 Blue/Green Chromis
x1 Midas Blenny
x1 Longfin Bannerfish (if it'll fit?)
x1 Yellow Tang (if it'll fit?)

Hello. I have a 25 gallon tank with a HOB skimmer. Currently I only have fish and live rock but I want my fish selection to keep the possibility open of having corals one day.

I currently have two clownfish and a cave goby, all very small. I also have a few hermit crabs and snails. I'm wondering if I have room for another fish in a tank this size?

I would like to get some type of cleaner shrimp. If it's not irresponsible to get 1 more fish as well, but something small that is compatible with the clowns.

Thanks for any help!

I would avoid the yellow tang, otherwise the list is good.

My Fish Wish List

My Fish Wish List

This is my favorite thread on RC, been watching it since November. What a great help you've already been even though this is my first post here!

I am planning my 250g LPS reef display tank (75"x24"x32") with Calfo coast to coast overflow and BeanAnimal style standpipes attached to a 100g basement sump with an additional 30g refugium. I sculpted dry pukani rock into a maze of dozens of tunnels, caves, and overhangs. Lots of room for hiding copepods. Each rock sculpture is stilted on 3" PVC providing additional hiding space underneath without the danger of rock slides.

All fish will be quarantined at least 4 weeks and purchased small. There will be 3-4 feedings each day. Many jumpers listed here so tank will be mesh covered with holes smaller than 1/4" AND No crabs! Please comment about my fish wish list.

In order:

1 Nemarteleotris decora
1 Ptereleotris heteroptera (unless too similar to N. decora)
1 Wetmorella tanakai
1 Amblyeleotris randalli and Alpheus spp.
1M 3F Nemanthias carberryi
1M 2F Paracheilinus mccoskeri
2 Amphiprion ocellaris (optional)
1 Pterapogon kauderni (tank raised)
1M 1F Genicanthus bellus
1 Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis
1 Synchiropus splendidus (after 1 year)

**Would it be possible to also add 1 Cryptocentrus cinctus and Alpheus spp.?

Thanks in advance, Steve!

Well, I hope you will check back periodically!

I LOVE your aquascaping.

All fish will be quarantined at least 4 weeks and purchased small.

You might consider reading my blog for the best quarantine acclimation process. I feel it is superior to almost any other

In order:

1 Nemarteleotris decora
1 Ptereleotris heteroptera (unless too similar to N. decora)
1 Wetmorella tanakai Excellent and so highly interesting in your aquascaping strategy
1 Amblyeleotris randalli and Alpheus spp.
1M 3F Nemanthias carberryi my favorite anthias
1M 2F Paracheilinus mccoskeri
2 Amphiprion ocellaris (optional) If you are going to have an LPS oriented coral strategy you may consider skipping these since they associate (what many improperly call "hosting") with some LPS corals which can damage them
1 Pterapogon kauderni (tank raised)
1M 1F Genicanthus bellus
1 Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis excellent fish
1 Synchiropus splendidus (after 1 year) you will have sufficient copepods to pair this if you desire; mine mate every evening

**Would it be possible to also add 1 Cryptocentrus cinctus and Alpheus spp.? I can not predict definitively. I tried this in a 240 gallon tank and it did not get along with Amblyeleotris randalli and in fact "stole" it's associated shrimp. By the way, I also have alpheus soror non symbiotic pistol shrimp (pair actually) which you might consider. This is truly a well thought out, highly interesting fish list.

Thanks in advance, Steve!

I hadn't considered pairing them but that sounds very entertaining, it's great to know that may be an option.
Thanks so much Steve for your input!

The difficulty, of course, is that getting a female is not so easy because primarily males are imported. Also, when buying this species be SURE they are hunting or they may be cyanide captured.

Hello Reefers!
Well I have come to that point, I have had my 150gl tank up and running for about 3 months now and am getting ready to purchase more fish. This was an established reef tank that I bought. It came with a verity of coral and 4 fish. A hippo tang, Scopas tang, orange spotted goby and a yellow watchman goby. Also has a cleaning crew. Here are some that I am thinking of adding, let me know what you think.

Flame Angle, Coral Beauty Angle, Sixline Wrasse, 5 Spotted Cardinals, 3 Banggai Cardinals, 7 Blue Green Chromis, Percula Clownfish, Diadem , Diadem Pseudochromis, Royal Gramma and an Exquisite Fairy Wrasse.

Will my tank size be able to handle this many fish? If not then how many? Can I add them all at once?
Thanks for any feedback here!

Flame Angle not reef safe
Coral Beauty Angle not reef safe
Sixline Wrasse, very aggressive, not recommended
5 Spotted Cardinals,
3 Banggai Cardinals, only a M+F pair will survive
7 Blue Green Chromis, will winnow down until only one or two are left
Percula Clownfish,
Diadem Pseudochromis, very aggressive, not compatible with fairy/flasher wrasses
Royal Gramma and an
Exquisite Fairy Wrasse.

Will my tank size be able to handle this many fish? If not then how many? Can I add them all at once?

It is not really possible to answer questions about how many fish an environment can handle.

Thanks for any feedback here!

This thread is about marine fish compatibility. Although I used to breed siamese fighting fish that was decades ago. Sorry.

Sohal tangs are very aggressive fish and require very large tanks, probably a 350 gallon as a minimum. I do NOT recommend this fish.
Thx for your help

2 Osellaris Clowns
yellow eyed kole tang a grazer which prefers a more mature tank
blue tang Requires a larger tank
foxface lo a grazer which prefers a more mature tank
2 purple firefish must be a male plus female and should be first additions
blue throught trigger an aggressive fish but very interesting
flamefish angel not reef safe but gorgeous
copperband butterfly expert level fish not recommended for new to the hobby; requires passive tankmates and is difficult to find one that eats
2 blue reef chromis

I have a small peppermint shrimp in a 29 gallon biocube with 2 black clowns and some zoas, some kind of encrusting leather, kenya tree, small frag of pulsing xenia, small frag of waving hand xenia, a mushroom of some sort and a very small hammer coral. I will be adding a black clown goby after quarantine as well. Would it be safe to put a Randalls shrimp and goby in there? Also, would a couple of sexy shrimp be safe there? I have a hair algae problem in there as well. What would be the best to put in to get rid of that?
Thanks!
