This is my favorite thread on RC, been watching it since November. What a great help you've already been even though this is my first post here!
Well, I hope you will check back periodically!
I am planning my 250g LPS reef display tank (75"x24"x32") with Calfo coast to coast overflow and BeanAnimal style standpipes attached to a 100g basement sump with an additional 30g refugium. I sculpted dry pukani rock into a maze of dozens of tunnels, caves, and overhangs. Lots of room for hiding copepods. Each rock sculpture is stilted on 3" PVC providing additional hiding space underneath without the danger of rock slides.
I LOVE your aquascaping.
All fish will be quarantined at least 4 weeks and purchased small.
You might consider reading my blog for the best quarantine acclimation process. I feel it is superior to almost any other
There will be 3-4 feedings each day. Many jumpers listed here so tank will be mesh covered with holes smaller than 1/4" AND No crabs! Please comment about my fish wish list.
In order:
1 Nemarteleotris decora
1 Ptereleotris heteroptera (unless too similar to N. decora)
1 Wetmorella tanakai
Excellent and so highly interesting in your aquascaping strategy
1 Amblyeleotris randalli and Alpheus spp.
1M 3F Nemanthias carberryi
my favorite anthias
1M 2F Paracheilinus mccoskeri
2 Amphiprion ocellaris (optional)
If you are going to have an LPS oriented coral strategy you may consider skipping these since they associate (what many improperly call "hosting") with some LPS corals which can damage them
1 Pterapogon kauderni (tank raised)
1M 1F Genicanthus bellus
1 Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis
excellent fish
1 Synchiropus splendidus (after 1 year)
you will have sufficient copepods to pair this if you desire; mine mate every evening
**Would it be possible to also add 1 Cryptocentrus cinctus and Alpheus spp.?
I can not predict definitively. I tried this in a 240 gallon tank and it did not get along with Amblyeleotris randalli and in fact "stole" it's associated shrimp. By the way, I also have alpheus soror non symbiotic pistol shrimp (pair actually) which you might consider. This is truly a well thought out, highly interesting fish list.
Thanks in advance, Steve!
