blue tang Requires a larger tank

In reading the tang thread it shows needing 125g and 6ft for the blue tang. Mine is 135g and 6ft. Is this not large enough.

I have a small peppermint shrimp in a 29 gallon biocube with 2 black clowns and some zoas, some kind of encrusting leather, kenya tree, small frag of pulsing xenia, small frag of waving hand xenia, a mushroom of some sort and a very small hammer coral. I will be adding a black clown goby after quarantine as well. Would it be safe to put a Randalls shrimp and goby in there?

yes, no problem

Also, would a couple of sexy shrimp be safe there?

should be fine

I have a hair algae problem in there as well. What would be the best to put in to get rid of that?

Probably a sea hare

Thanks!

If you are talking about Atlantic Blue Tang that is correct. That is the problem with "common names"; most people are using that term for a Hepatus tang which requires 240 gallons .

We have a 29 gallon tank with
A clownfish,
And a cuc,
And frogspawn and button polyps.

We want to add:
Flame angel
Orchid dottyback

Although P. fridmani is one of least aggressive dottybacks, I do not recommend them, especially in a small tank. It will make additions going forward difficult.

i have a 55 gallon drilled tank with a sump, live rock and live sand have a yellow tang firefish goby coral beauty three stripe damsel and a domino damsel i am thinking of adding a chevron tang what do you think

A second tang would be a bad idea in a 55 gallon tank especially given that it is undersized for even a yellow tang. Those damsels will be a problem going forward.

Okay Steve,
I want to make sure I understand correctly. I can add to my biocube, the shrimp/goby pair and a couple of sexy shrimp and the starry blenny to go along with my black clown goby and 2 black clowns.

Also, what is the best way to catch the damsels out of my 75 gallon tank with lots of live rock hiding places?

Correct

Almost drain the tank to about 3 inches (saving the water) makes it MUCH easier.

I have a Hawkfish that i need to get out from my 125 because he is bulling every addition to the tank until dead. Any advise?

While this thread is about Marine Fish Compatibility, I did provide a suggestion above. Hawkfish are incredibly smart and agile but if yours goes to the top when you feed, get a large net and feed with the net just below.

Hi,

I am wanting to add:

- 2 Bangaii Cardinals
- 1 Cleaner Shrimp

My Tank is a 22 gallon cube with a 10 gallon sump/refugium with Chaeto and a 6 inch deep sand bed. It is SPS dominated. I have 1 True Percula Clownfish in the tank right now and a small cleaning crew. Also running a Reef Dynamics skimmer.

Will this work?

Thanks.

It should but do not pair the clown. The cardinals should be tank bred and a male + female.

Seahorse, mandarin dragonet, & pipefish?

Seahorse, mandarin dragonet, & pipefish?

INFO:

-180 gallon DT, plumbed to a 40G refugium show, and 100G sump.
-About 150lbs live rock in DT, 50lbs live tock in refugium show, and 40lbs live rock in sump.
-DT and sump will be 1 year old in December 2012. Refugium will be 6 months old in December.

The seahorse (Hippocampus kuda or errectus), ORA red or green mandarin, and dragonface pipefish will live in the 40 gallon tank/refugium.

Can I keep the seahorse, dragonet, and pipefish in the 40 gallon starting December? Or should I wait longer?

Thank you.

Unfortunately the question is unanswerable with accuracy. All three are copepod eaters so if there is sufficient copepods you should be fine. You will have to work to keep the copepod population up which probably will not happen by itself. But feeding with nutramar ova will help along with other similar foods.

Ok thanks Steve! After doing more research, I've decided to ditch the dragon face pipefish. Therefore I'll only have the seahorse and mandarin in the 40g refugium show.

FOWLR

I have a 180g rr with a 40B sump. Filtration will be 160-180 lbs of live rock and 1-2 inches of sand in the display. Going for an open look. I will have some macroalgae in the display that the fish will eat like Ulva. The sump will house the 2 heaters, skimmer Warner Marine MF201, and BRS Dual reactors. I most likely will put additional rock in the sump depeding on how much is workable in the display.

The fish list:

2 Occelaris Clowns (already have in a 75g hospital/quarantine)
1 yellow tang
1 dogface puffer
1 blue throat or sargassum trigger

Additional fish possibilities (looking to add one or more of the below fish):

1 powder blue tang
1 flame angel
1 mystery wrasse
1 bicolor goatfish
1 more blue throat or sargassum trigger

Thanks in advance.
