I currently have a 125 gallon tank that has been up and running for nine months (well I just transferred my contents from a 200 gallon that was running for nine months into the 125)

Current:
Occelaris clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens)
Firefish, Purple (Nemateleotris decora)
Diamond Watchman Goby (Valenciennea puellaris)
Blue/Green Reef Chromis (Chromis viridis)
Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus)

Additions:
Bartlett's Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum)
Black Cap Basslet (Gramma melacara)
Red Mandarin (Pterosynchiropus splendidus var.)
McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri)
Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse (Wetmorella tanakai)

How is this for bioload? Is there room for more? I don't want to overstock...Would it be possible to add a small group of Orange Lined Cardinalfish (Apogon cyanosoma), maybe four or five)

Thanks again for your help.

The additions are fine, but I would not add more.

New 26 Gallon Bow

New 26 Gallon Bow

Hello, I am converting a 26 gallon bow to a saltwater tank. I will being doing Live Rock and hopefully some beginner corals in a few months. So I am looking at the following fish;

Pair of Clowns
1 Royal Gramma (Maybe 2 if that would work)
2 or 3 Neon Gobys

Thats it, put I am also wondering will I need a cleanup crew that I read about. I am Brand New to Saltwater and as I read back on Page 7 or 8 of this thread, Nothing from my freshwater experience transfers over.

Thanks for the help in advance, great thread and reading. I have got no work done today!!:)

after moving I have my tank back up and running. a 30 gallon tank with 30lb of liverock a 15 gallon sump a coralife 65 superskimmer. I am planning on stocking a watchman goby & pistol shrimp, pajama cardinal and a fire fish. I would like to add a royal gramma but have read conflicting reports about a royal gramma and firefish compatability. your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

35g tank 36x12.5x18, cycling right now (newly established). My idea is to eventually get LPS and maybe a clam, but that's far in the future. I'll establish a clean-up crew of mostly snails (I'm worried about hermits eating snails) and a skunk cleaner.

Are these good for a peaceful reef tank? Not adding all at once, of course, but over a few months. I plan to add them in the order they are listed - tell me as well if that's a bad idea.

Fishes:
2 Ocellaris Clowns
2 Blue Chromis
1 yellow clown goby
1-2 firefish

Can I get comments on an updated list? In order of addition:
2 Occelaris Clowns
1 Midas Blenny
1 Yellow Watchman Goby
1 Blue Chromis

46 gallon bow front reef.

current :
Percula pair
yellow watchman goby
Banggai cardinal
Fire Cleaner Shrimp
variuos snails

question:
would 2 or 3 MALE flasher wrasses (different types) be ok as long as I stay away from those that are more aggressive? Would it be siginificantly better to have 1 male, 2 female of the same species flasher instead?

thank you,
Ryan

I'm currently cycling my 4' 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. I plan to keep LPS and softies. Here is my wish list:

2x occelaris clowns
1x Yellow Watchman Goby
1x Yellow Tang
1x Kole Tang
2x fairy wrasses (undecided on which ones, leaning toward Red Head Solon and/or Carpenters)
1x Mandarin (eventually)

In a 30 gallon tank, the odds of coexistence are poor.

Round and round I go

Round and round I go

Understanding that the goal in keeping large and or active fish is to provide them with as much swimming room as possible I have a question for you. While my tank (currently empty, still planning) measures 4' tall and 44" across, it is also round. My thoughts are that a fish could literally swim forever without ever coming to a dead end and have to stop or turn around. This would also help prevent anything from being chased into and then cornered. I'm thinking also that by moving the water in one or both directions it would also help to make these type fish more comfortable as it too would not hit a solid wall either and just continue on. I would very much appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you

2x occelaris clowns
1x Yellow Watchman Goby
1x Yellow Tang I would not recommend two tangs in this sized tank; of the two, the kole tang is least aggressive.
1x Kole Tang
2x fairy wrasses (undecided on which ones, leaning toward Red Head Solon and/or Carpenters) C. solorensis is mildly aggressive and will lose some coloration in the long run absent a female, carpenters are flasher wrasses and superb.
1x Mandarin (eventually)

It will not help with large fish, for example some naso tangs approach two feet in length, and it is irrelevant for small fish, but they will appreciate the room. As a very rough guideline, if a fish's max length is six inches you should be fine, if it exceeds that, not as much so.

Would like some suggestions on adding any additional fish to what I already have.

Currently a 75 Gallon w/

1 Banggai Cardinal
1 Black and White Ocellaris Clown
1 Pigmy Angel
1 Royal Gramma
1 Green Chromis - who appears to be picked on so no telling how much longer he'll last
1 Yellow Tang

Would like some wrasses/blennies/gobys just fear that my mix wont allow for additions.

But I would consider anything else that would work with what I have.

Thanks for the advice

G.

Thanks for the feedback. Given the choice between the two, I'll probably end up with the Yellow Tang (wife's choice). Maybe rather than getting the 2nd tang, I could make it a pair of Mandarins depending on how the pod population is. Or another colorful wrasse.

As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations, but I will be more than happy to provide commentary on any perspective additions.

tank is not large enough for a pair of mandarins. A colorful flasher wrasse would work fine. The yellow tang, once added, will not be keen about future additions.

Hi everyone,

Ive been in the background for a while now reading many useful threads.
It now time for me to start up with my own reef tank.

the aquarium is a Juwel Vison 260. ( about 69 gallons)

I would like to have the following fished after a while ( i know that some are picky eaters but then again this is the final goal so I'll start with the easier first)
so here goes.
2x P. kauderni
2x A. ocellaris
2x Zebrasoma flavescens
2x Labroides dimidiatus or Stonogobiops nematodes or Nemateleotris decora Nemateleotris magnifica suggestions?
2x Pseudochromis porphyreus
2x Centropyge loricula ( flame angel)

so 12 fishes in total.

then I would also like to have:
2x Clibanarius Tricolor
2x L. amboinensis
5x some turbo snails
and some starfish

so please give me some input

"TANKS";)

Sorry for quoting myself but I've several post with questions after mine and I thought that mine must have been missed. I'm hoping for a reply on the fishes I'm considering of having.

Thanks again!

Thanks Steve. These I like and am considering:

Canary/Midas Blenny
Starry Blenny/Bi-color Blenny
Tiger Watchman Goby
Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse

For the Blenny it would be 1 or the other in the set but definitely 2 Blennies.

Thanks again

I do occasionally miss posts. My page is set differently than the default and when it does a page change, I sometimes mess up. So sorry!!

2x P. kauderni MUST be a male plus female
2x A. ocellaris
2x Zebrasoma flavescens yellow tangs really require a larger tank; moreover they really do not like each other so even in a larger tank, two would be problematic.
2x Labroides dimidiatus or Stonogobiops nematodes or Nemateleotris decora Nemateleotris magnifica suggestions?

cleaner wrasses have a low survival rate, plus they make some fish crazy. Firefish are excellent but you can only have two if they are a male plus female. Firefish should always be added first

2x Pseudochromis porphyreus very aggressive and will preclude most other smallish fish
2x Centropyge loricula ( flame angel) one is excellent, but pairing them is not so easy unless you have a really good supplier

so 12 fishes in total.

then I would also like to have:
2x Clibanarius Tricolor I avoid hermit crabs as they tend to kill snails for their shells
2x L. amboinensis
5x some turbo snails
and some starfish starfish tend to starve in small tanks

so please give me some input

Canary/Midas Blenny
Starry Blenny/Bi-color Blenny
Tiger Watchman Goby
Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse slightly aggressive and in the long run loses some coloration absent a female

For the Blenny it would be 1 or the other in the set but definitely 2 Blennies. two blennies occupy the same ecological niche which precludes having two except in very large tanks

Thanks again
