Well, with an anemone, and assuming you raise them to sexual maturity, a 29/30 would be optimum, but you could scrape by with a 20. Unusual question.

Sorry for the late reply, but thank you very much.

I was thinking about a 20G cube, but when I looked at one, it seemed a bit small.

Thanks again for thinking (outside the box) with me :lol2:

My pleasure; be sure to check back with any questions.

I'm feeling good about my stocking list thus far, but the Fiance's request of "Something Purple" Threw me for loop, what are you thoughts on the following:

Tank "29 Gallon" Biocube. 23 pounds of rock, regular sand bed. Clean up crew is in, no fish have been added yet. Filterfloss/chemipure/purigen & cheato. Weekly 2gallon water changes.

  • Yellow Watchman Goby & Pistol Shrimp
  • Two Black & White Ocellaris (Amphiprion ocellaris) [[Will these take over when they mature and push everything else out?]]
  • (optional) Two Neon Blue Gobies (Elacatinus oceanops)
  • Purple Dottyback (Pseudochromis porphyreus)

Thanks!!!

Hello,

Just joined today, and I already posted a new thread before seeing this one: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2200006 Should i just reiterate here?
150DD cube 36x36x27
Sump(not sure about volume), planning for an SRO 3000 skimmer, lots of LR

Wish list:
Dwarf lionfish(haven't decided on species yet)
Picasso trigger
Kole tang
Papuan Toby Puffer
Harlequin tusk
Maybe a banana or similar wrasse

I posted my reasoning and some concerns in the thread(and I do see the potential problem with lionfish and triggers).

  • (optional) Two Neon Blue Gobies (Elacatinus oceanops) two only if they are mated, otherwise only one
  • Purple Dottyback (Pseudochromis porphyreus) very aggressive, avoid

Thanks!!!

150DD cube 36x36x27 which is about 151 gallons assuming dimensions in inches

Sorry, I do not provide advice on aggressive fish tanks, best results can be obtained in the Aggressive fish forum found here. But lionfish and triggers are not compatible.

Hey I was just wondering what the largest sized fish I could house in my tank would be? Just looking for a few suggestions to point me towards research. I currently have a 40b with a 20l sump, an assortment of lps, softies, and one sps; I have snails, a PC shrimp, a yellow tail damsel, and a starry eyed blenny. Thanks

As those who follow this thread know, I do not make recommendations, although I am always happy to review a stocking list for compatibility. The yellow tail damsel will be a problem going forward. If you used this fish to cycle your tank, be aware that there are MUCH better ways.

I used a Safeway shrimp to cycle my tank :). The yellow tail I understand might be a problem. Right now he is picked on by my shrimp though. I guess I'll just keep looking for things, thanks though

1 X Koralia # 4
1 X Koralia # 3
JBJ ATO
Using coarse and fine filter floss for mechanical

Livestock -

150 lbs live rock in display, 60 lbs in sump

Passer Angel (King Angel)
Blue Tang (5")
Niger Trigger
Red Coris Wrasse
Hoevens Wrasse (Melanurus)
Solar Fairy Wrasse
Flame Hawkfish
Mated Pair of ocellaris Clowns
Mated Pair of Yellow Damsels
Talbot's Damsel
Allens Damsel
6 Green Chromis
12" Snowflake Eel

My main question is, I would like to add 3 more fish to complete the list, but i'm wondering about overstocking. I want to add a Yellow Tang, Scopas Tang, and a Racoon Butterfly. Any thoughts? System is over 2 years old, very healthy and stable. Everyone is super happy together, and only the King Angel is aggressive at times, but has never caused any harm.

The racoon should do fine, the yellow tang will eventually become aggressive towards new comers.

Yet

The passer angel (king angel) will become a problem eventually. Normally only the juveniles are sold but as they grow and mature, they are probably the most aggressive large angel there is.

Well this is a fact that I am aware of for sure. I knew he would outgrow the tank anyways, so he will eventually need to be re-homed. And I think after the racoon, scopas and yellow I will stop stocking, so I think it should be ok. Same goes for the blue tang, eventually he will need a larger home.

Reef Central Staff feel that you should buy fish for the tank you have and not assume that upgrades will occur or that the fish can be re-homed.

Was considering a Leopard Wrasse.

Starry eyed blenny, yellow tail damsel, PC shrimp, various lps and softies

While leopard wrasses will eat frozen mysis, leopard wrasses really need larger tanks as they hunt copepods all day. They also need peaceful tank mates and a yellow tail damsel is not. Also, for future questions please refresh my memory on tank size, etc. as I have answered a lot of these and will not remember those details.

40b w/ 20l sump. If I gave my damsel to a buddy you still think I wouldn't have enough room? Even if I cultivate copepods in the sump?

It is not a room issue, it is a nutrition/feeding issue. Getting rid of the damsel will make it more feasible but you would have to feed frozen multiple times per day.
