I have a question about my own tank, a 75g with LPS and softies only.
Current stock:
2 BW Ocellaris
2 engineer gobies long term, you may find those problematical
Coral Beauty Angel
Midas Blenny

I would like to add a trio of flasher or fairy wrasses. I had thought about Mcoskers, but finding females has been tough. I may get a few juvenile Longfin fairy wrasses instead. That would be an okay sub, correct?

well, not really. The longfin are very aggressive. For either fairy or flasher wrasses you will need a top with 1/4 holes as they are prolific jumpers.

I have been researching the melanarus wrasse and would like to get one if it will be compatible with the fairy wrasse. Will they be compatible?

yes, but not reef safe to invertebrates and will need a minimum of 2 inches of sand, ideally more

Last addition would be a Kole Tang.

that should be fine

245 Gallon mixed reef dominant SPS with some LPS. Let me know which ones are ok to have in pairs.

Tangs: Sailfin, Mimic LemonPeal Tang, Naso Tank and Mimic Ebli Tang

Foxface Rabbitfish
McCosker's Flasher Wrasse
Spotted Cardinarfish
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
1 Firefish Goby
1 Red Spotted Blenny
2 Orange Spot Diamond Goby
Cleaner shrimp

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks, I didnt know that about the longfin. I did some research, but was unsure. Would a linespot flasher wrasse or filamented wrasse be better temperment over the longfin?

Tangs: Sailfin, Mimic LemonPeal Tang, Naso Tank and Mimic Ebli Tang in my opinion your tank is not large enough for a Naso tang

Foxface Rabbitfish
McCosker's Flasher Wrasse pair or harem
Spotted Cardinarfish pair or harem
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
1 Firefish Goby M/F pair
1 Red Spotted Blenny
2 Orange Spot Diamond Goby only one
Cleaner shrimp any number

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

35g long (36x12x18) mixed reef with a clam, SPS, LPS (all euphyllias or duncans), and a sarcophyton, have:

2 occellaris clowns
yellowline neon goby
tailspot blenny

I lost my blue-green chromis after a month (mysterious death), and I was wondering if a cherub or coral beauty would work with the above. I know that chromis are experiencing anomalous losses right now, and I suspect that mine was a victim of that.

Yes, there are problems with chromis coming in at the moment. A dwarf angel will not be reef safe.

Same thing

I have that coral beauty, which I knew was a "with caution" when I got it. So far I haven't seen any issues yet. Am I playing a waiting game till it does develop a taste for corals? Or is it a fish by fish basis?

I have seen them be model citizens until one day, they wake up and the world has changed. Roll of the dice, but your choice.

Would like to get info on 2 type of blennies i would love to put in my tank.
The harptail blenny & the striped fang blenny which are both tank bred. Is it possible i can place 1 or more of them in my tank without any issues later down. both are about 1 1/2" long. They will be going in my 200gal+ reef tank.
The inhabitants that maybe same size or larger are:

5 Bartlet anthias
5 pajama cardinals
3 chromis
1 solon wrasse
1 yellow banded possum wrasse
1 royal gramma
1 algae blenny
1 purple firefish
1 hi fin red banded goby
1 geometric pygmy hawkfish

If not, will a potters or leopard wrasse be ok.

thanks

Generally, mixing blennies will not work out well. If you have fine sand, either leopard will work with the only possible negative reaction from C. solorensis which is one of the more aggressive fairy wrasses. Ideally a mature tank since they will hunt copepods as well as eating PE mysis.

Ok thanks, was very sceptical about the blennies from the beginning. My tank has been running very good for the last 15mths. I see another LFS store has the labouts fairy wrasse so i think i'll just get one of those. I'm more looking for small colorful fish that will add color to my reef tank. And also must not be aggresive.

Hi Steve,

I've posted before in this thread, but have modified my stock list. This will be going in a 105G (48x24x21) tank with 36G sump/refugium; FOWLR at the beginning, moving to reef later. These are listed in order of introduction.

1. Diamond Watchman Goby (V. puellaris)
2. Pair of Percula Clownfish (A. percula)
3. Blue Chromis (C. cyaneus)
4. Orchid Dottyback (P. fridmani)
5. Sixline Wrasse (P. hexataenia) or Filamented Flasher Wrasse (P. filamentosus) -- can I get away with a Sixline with this stock list, or will it cause too many problems with the dottyback and goby?
6. Yellow Tang (Z. flaviscens)
7. Kole's Tang (C. strigosus)
8. Blue Throat Triggerfish (X. auromarginatus)
9. Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish (F. flavissimus) -- maybe, if bioload permits; not 100% sure on this one

Appreciate your thoughts.

1. Diamond Watchman Goby (V. puellaris)
2. Pair of Percula Clownfish (A. percula)
3. Blue Chromis (C. cyaneus) chromis have been coming in unhealthy, avoid
4. Orchid Dottyback (P. fridmani)
5. Sixline Wrasse (P. hexataenia) or Filamented Flasher Wrasse (P. filamentosus) -- can I get away with a Sixline with this stock list, or will it cause too many problems with the dottyback and goby? I always suggest avoiding sixlines because it limits tank mates
6. Yellow Tang (Z. flaviscens)
7. Kole's Tang (C. strigosus) One tang in this sized tank, the Kole's is preferable as the yellow is aggressive and really needs a larger tank
8. Blue Throat Triggerfish (X. auromarginatus) I would not in this sized tank plus it will decimate clean up crew
9. Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish (F. flavissimus) -- maybe, if bioload permits; not 100% sure on this one

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks Steve. I was really hoping to put a trigger in there, but it looks like I'm going to have to settle for not having one. :( I'll strike the Yellow tang as well. Could I do a Foxface Lo (S. vulpinus) instead of the Yellow Tang?

How about a pair of firefish (N. magnficia or N. decora) instead of the chromis? And could I add the chromis later once they are coming in healthier?

Does anybody have experience with the Golden-Stripe Grouper/Six-Line Soapfish?

How toxic is the mucus they secret? and will the toxins linger in the tank forever or dissipate over time?

foxface is preferable

firefish in pairs must be a male plus female. More than a single chromis is almost always reduced to one; I have no idea when their health will improve.

Expert only, large tank required. Predatory. I do not comment on predatory tanks. Try the aggressive fish forum

Thanks. I wouldn't expect you to be able to predict when chromis would be healthy again. :) What I meant was, can I add them at any time (assuming they are healthy) without worrying about what order the other fish are added?
