I've spent lots of time on lots of forums and your generosity and patience are amazing. I have a 125 gallon 6' tank with approx 90 lbs of pukani in it. Planning and SPS reef. Below is my proposed stocking list. They are listed in order of addition to the tank and I am planning on only having one of each. I would rather sacrifice seeing mating behavior to increase the odds of a peaceful tank. Thank you in advance for your time.

You have several prolific jumpers so it is essential that your tank be covered with mesh (not eggcrate)

Purple firefish (Nemateleotris decora)
Yellow Head Jawfish (Opistognathus aurifrons)
Yellow watchman Goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus)
Red Banded Snapping Shrimp (Alpheus randalli)
Bangai Cardinal (Pterapogon kauderni))
Blue Flasher Wrasse(Paracheilinus cyaneus
McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri)
Exquisite Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus exquisitus)
Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis) X 2 introduce concurrently
Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma loreto)
Carberryi Anthias (Nemanthias carberryi)
Blue/Green Reef Chromis (Chromis viridis)
Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loricula)
One Spot Foxface (Siganus unimaculatus)
Green Mandarin (Synchiropus splendidus) nine months of tank maturity first

There are no behavioral problems; nice stocking list

150g 48"x24"x30" with a 55 gallon sump/fuge

Planning on keeping a bunch of soft corals- leathers, colt, kenya tree, GSP, Xenias etc.

Intended stocking list:

2 - ocellaris or maroon clowns
1 - sargassum trigger (or bluejaw?) may pose a problem for your cleanup crew
1 - toby puffer of some type (haven't decided yet) can nip fins of tank mates
1 - bellus angel female, males are problematic shippers
1 - sixline or flasher wrasse

+ cleaning crew (hermits, turbos, fighting conch etc)

(potentially a foxface or a lawnmower blenny if algae gets ugly, hoping not)

Will the trigger and the toby be too nasty to my cleaning crew? yesI really dig triggers and puffers, and I completely understand the need for hard food.
some triggers can be moderately peaceful or aggressive depending on the fish; others, such as a clown trigger or undulatus will be mean and aggressive. Period.

Hi, I have a 55g with a 20g sump, about 40 pounds of live rock and an inch or so of live sand. I currently have 3 chromis, a pair of clowns, a few hermit crabs and snails. Right now I have no corals although I do want to add at some point. I have wanted to get a blue tang and yellow tang but from what I've read I believe my tank is too small. The local people I've talked to say that the fish won't grow larger than aquarium will allow but I don't want to just stress them out. Is it really not advisable to get those types of fish?

Thanks

I have a 150G tank(Running about 7 months) that currently houses an Orchid dottyback, Gold Midas Blenny and a pair of occelaris clowns. Have about 8 corals, mostly softies/LPS and one acro. Also have two Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp(Bonded Pair). Can I add a bonded pair of Blood Red Fire Shrimp?

From a fish perspective, which is what this thread is about, there is no problem. In general, the two pairs of shrimp should coexist. I have done it, albeit in larger tanks.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

By the way, it is not fish size that is relevant, it is fish maturity and their current (at that level of maturity) needs for territory. Those folks that talk about fish size with regard to tank size as the determining factor need to understand a bit more about the dynamics of fish behavior.

So the fish in question are territorial and I need to look for fish that are less so?

Both P. hepatus and Zebrasoma flavescens are territorial. What is worse, is that once established, tangs which are highly territorial (such as zebrasoma tangs) will not allow introduction of many fish that they perceive as conspecific. Some of the larger tangs, while huge, are less territorial, but they would not do well in less than an 8 foot tank. Think about a 15-18 inch fish in a four foot or even six foot tank and you will realize that it would not look good nor be good for the fish.

I have a 36g bowfront with two black and white ocellaris... What would be other fish I could add that would give color to the tank but are reeef friendly and would not stress my clowns out....I also want a shrimp/ goby pair but don't know which pair would be good

A shrimp goby pair would do fine; pick a commensal goby based on what appeals to you and pair with an alpheus randal pistol shrimp. As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide suggestions for a variety of reasons. I would be happy to reevaluate any stocking list you provide however provided you also provide tank size.

Urchins

Urchins

I guess this is the proper place to post this. I would like to add a urchin to my tank. I am open to type/species of urchin. I have hard and soft corals, 2 clowns, 2 kromis, 3 damsils, and a decorator crab. I have herd that urchins will bulldoze your liverock and coral. Most of my rock is pretty well fastened down with tubing running through it with the exception of a few pieces on the sand bed. I also plan on adding a tang (not sure what kind yet) and a dwarf angel.
Any particular urchin I should look for or avoid?

This thread is about marine fish compatibility. For questions about urchins, try putting a thread in the invertebrate forum which can be found here. .

Randalls assessor and Mysyery Wrasse

Randalls assessor and Mysyery Wrasse

Hi, I am in the process of setting up a new 93 gallon tank. The tank is: bare bottom, will be stocked with sps corals 20 gallon sump 85 pounds live rock. I have some fish that are new and will be adding fish from a 7 year old display.

2 small Picasso Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion percula) -- in display tank 2 weeks
3 medium sized Bartlett's Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum)-- in display tank 3 weeks
1 ORA® Randall's Assessor (Assessor randalli) less than 1 inch -- coming out of QT will be moved to display

I would like to add the following fish
2 or 3 Randall's Assessor (still need to purchase and will be less than 1 inch )
1 Yellow Tang - Hawaii (Zebrasoma flavescens) will be moved from old display
1 Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma veliferum) will be moved from old display

1 Mystery wrasse he is in old display tank he did not bother the Picasso clownfish which were added a few years after mystery wrasse was established in old display tank. Mystery wrasse did go after small Bartlett Anthias added recently to old display. Small Bartlett were removed in less than 2 hours and given to a friend when Mystery showed aggression. Mystery wrasse was housed with the tangs and Picassos previously, they go along well. I am thinking he will be fine with the medium sized anthias which are closer to his size, 80% to 95% his size, and already in the new display tank. Planning to add tangs than assessors than Mystery wrasse last.
Will this work?
any issues?
