300g rubbermaid stock tank 60x60x24 (surface area of 2,827.43 inches2) with a 100g sump 48x28x24 (surface area of 1,152 inches2). I use a UV sterilizer, INS 300 Reef Dynamics protein skimmer, Live Rock, and CerMedia MarinePure Biofilter Media. This system currently houses :

Emperor Angel = 6
Blue Hippo Tang 5
Vlamingii Tang = 7
Blonde Naso Tang = 5 in
Purple Tang = 3 in
Clown Fish = 1 in
Damsel = 1 in
2 Chromis = 1 in will become one over time
Neon Dotty = 1 in very aggressive, will limit tank mates

First you have too many large fish, secondly you have too many algae grazers for the tank size.

Prenoob here, I want to have a pretty tank with lots of alive stuff to watch! I am planning on a 75 gallon tank and would like to have it be BEAUTIFUL and peaceful. I for sure want some clown fish and a host anemone for them. Any suggestions on the species that would be best would be great. So far I think my favorite clown fish are the true percula? If I could have more than one pair then even better.

I love the yellow tangs but I have read that they need lots of room and if a 75 is too small then I will stay away from them.
The LFS I frequent for my FW tank has a marine tank with a blue spotted jaw fish.....we are in LOVE.

For long term success with this fish, you will need cooler temperatures and a tank suited to their needs (sand bed)

We gaze into each others eyes every time I go there and I would love to have one of my very own to keep in my tank. I have read about some health issues with these guys and that they need lots of stuff to build their seemingly large underground palaces. I have not found any info about whether they get along with clowns or not. no problem with clowns, however
I also think Mandarin Gobies are super trippy and like something from a SiFi film...would love to have one. It is doable in a 75 gallon tank after about 9 months maturity (they subsist primarily on copepods)
Blennies are also very cute.
Cardinal fish also seem like something from an old episode of Star Trek and I would like to keep them.
Damsels seem cute and easy. but aggressive Pretty much open to suggestions for little fish that can live with corals and anemones that are pretty or unusual.
I have just started to research corals and definitely want some. I think the only thing I want to do is add them very slowly one or two at a time.
So that's it so far.....Your experienced ideas are really welcome!!!
Oh and I am planning on a sump (maybe, frankly still nervous about it flooding my house), protein skimmer, power-heads and whatever lighting I need to keep a reef thriving. I am still slowly but surely researching all of these things as I want to get the best stuff once rather than having to spend more money because I got the wrong thing.

Need help selecting a light for 36g reef

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and I am new here to reef central as well as a new reef tank owner. I currently have a 75 gallon planted freshwater.

We have two green spotted puffers we purchased at walmart four years ago when my wife and I started fish keeping and when we learned they were brackish fish we started acclimating them. They are now 100% acclimated to full saltwater 1.022-25

This past weekend we purchased a 36g bowfront, eshopps skimmer, fluval 50, some cheap zoo med light with one 10k and one 460nm for about $200.

I also found someone on cl who was selling sand and rock and got a five gallon bucket full of grade aaaaaaaa live sand and about 80 lb of live rock for $100! and we were happy to find a little star fish

So, take a look at the pic and let me know what you think.

My question is what light should I be using, I'd like to keep a variety of coral.

My water perams will be good as I will be buying RO water for top offs and do not plan on keeping any other livestock besides the puffers b/c they tend to pick at EVERYTHING and i'd rather not waste my money on dead fish lol.

Hi guys, I'm new to the marine world and I'm setting up a 36 gallon bowfront.
Right now it's empty and I've just been researching on what to get.

First off I'm going to run a Marineland canister rated for 55 gallons and the heater. I'm going to get some LED's for corals and 40lbs of live sand, 15 lbs base rock and 15 life rock.

Here's my very hopeful stocklist:
Fish:
Pair of Ocellaris clowns
2 blue/green chromis
2 zebra barred dartfish
Purple dottyback
My girlfriend really wants to add a flame angel but I've seen the min tank size go from 30 to 70 and I know they can eat coral. Any way that would work?

Inverts:
Long tentacle anemone, I know clowns don't need them, I just like them and It would be a few months before I introduced it.
Brittle or chocolate chip sea star
Cleaner snails/crabs
Peppermint shrimp

Corals:
I'm not really sure what to do here, I like the polyps a lot, particularly the hairy-looking ones and then maybe some finger coral or something? Any suggestions?

If a CBB is your primary objective, be sure to introduce it first with no other fish

Current inhabitants:
Chocolate Tang
5 Green Chromis

Still at LFS:
Scopas Tang
Two bonded false percs

Want to add:
flame angel
flameback angel
fire shrimp
blue throat trigger (on the fence on this one)
flasher wrasses (suggestions?)
yellowpeel pygmy
lawnmower blenny
goby/shrimp pair
anthias

No, it needs a larger tank and it is not coral safe

1 male flasher wrasse(McCoskers or Carpenters) OR a Sixline since the male flasher's colors would be subdued without a female... a sixline is aggressive especially in a small tank, a flasher wrasse, needs a slightly larger tank

3 Royal Grammas one would work, three needs a much larger tank

I didn't cycle the tank with the damsel. That's a damsel my wife had in her tank that she put in the QT because he was too aggressive towards the other fish. I put the damsel in my DT after my cycle was done. I wanted to make sure the bacteria stayed alive while my new fish was in the QT for 4-6 weeks.

The sailfin tang is rated for a 100 gallon tank under Blue Zoo Aquatics, do you think that's a typo? I'd eventually love one in my display tank.

No, it is not a typo, on the other hand it is a bit absurd. Remember, they sell fish, we here sell nothing; we just want you to be long term successful. I am not a fan of this vendor for a variety of reasons. Reef Central's recommended tank size for tangs can be found here.

No. You already have too many algae grazers in this sized tank. And a P. hepatus tang will need a much larger tank.
