hi i have a 29gal biocube with 30# of live sand and about 15-20# of live rock and only current thing in there right now are a couple of hermit crabs and snails, and a 3 stripe damsel. i plan to buy and intank media basket which comes also with a fuge basket which i was going to replace with an intank skimmer. do you recommend that i use a skimmer as i read on some forums that is really isn't needed on a tank that size.

but as far as a wish list goes i want to get
pair of black ocellaris clowns
poss some anemones that they could take to
pistol shrimp with goby
six line wrasse
star polyp colony
zoos

thats is as far as i think of right now. thanks for your input

I would remove the damsel. Hopefully not used to cycle the tank

pistol shrimp with goby
six line wrasse very aggressive, especially in a small tank
star polyp colony
zoos

Hello.

I have a 265 gallon(84x24x26), two Eshopps RS-300 sumps, with a S-3000 Reef Octopus skimmer. There is about an inch and a half of sand, and somewhere between two hundred fifty and three hundred pounds of rock.

At the moment, I have two Ocellaris clownfish, a pair of scarlet cleaner shrimp, a pair of red fire shrimp, about 40 astrea and cerith snails, perhaps 20 blue leg hermits, and a tiger pistol shrimp.

I also have 4 tank bred Bangaii cardinals in QT, and a Bluefin/Y-Bar Shrimpgoby in QT.

What are your thoughts on the following stocking list?

4 Chalk Bass
Flame Hawkfish
Mystery Wrasse
Sargassum Trigger
Macropharyngodon Wrasse (undecided on species)
Atlantic Blue or Purple Tang
Kole Tang
Brown Bar Goby
4 Purple Queen Anthias
4 Batlett's Anthias

Hi, 200 gallons (7 feet) fowlr with 50 gallons sump and 150 Lbs live rock currently running fellow for more than 3 months due to ich attack. Current Stock,
- Adult Emperor Angel (5")
- Foxface (4")
- Bicolor (3")
- Powder brown tang (4")
- Common Clown (1.5")
My frnd going abroad and i am in a situation where i must either take his Asfur Angel (probably 5") or a Vlamingii Tang (10" plus).
Although i like Asfur more but i need ur advice. Thanks

What are your thoughts on the following stocking list?

4 Chalk Bass
Flame Hawkfish Not shrimp safe but a fun fish
Mystery Wrasse will make a leopard wrasse (or similar ecological niche fish) difficult and is not shrimp safe
Sargassum Trigger Not invert safe but a cool fish
Macropharyngodon Wrasse (undecided on species) after 9 months tank maturity with be easier since they graze on copepods in addition to eating supplied foods
Atlantic Blue or Purple Tang Introduce last
Kole Tang
Brown Bar Goby
4 Purple Queen Anthias very difficult and require constant feedings multiple times per day. Very few people are successful with these fish and those that are successful are normally highly skilled with anthias
4 Batlett's Anthias

Fine except as annotated

Getting Fish List Together...Advice/Comments?

I haven't even started a tank yet but I am trying to plan one out. I will have a 75 gallon with a 29 gallon sump. I really want a full reef tank with SPS, LPS, soft corals and possibly an anemone. I am planning on VHO T5 lighting, 3 inch sandbed, 100 pounds of live rock. This is the list of fish I have so far.
Pair of True Percula Clowns with LTA
1 Mandarin Goby
1 Blue spotted jaw fish
Cardinal fish pair
Agile chromis school (5-7)
A small wrass (haven't decided on a species yet would love suggestions)
1 Pink spotted goby
1 coral beauty angelfish
1 flame angelfish (or if there are better species that will live better together I would love suggestions on these guys.)
I appreciate any comments!:spin3:

Pair of True Percula Clowns with LTA

Long Tentacle (Corkscrew) Anemone
Macrodactyla doreensis will host:

A. clarkii - Clark's Clownfish
A. perideraion - Pink Skunk Clownfish
A. polymnus - Saddleback Clownfish
Premnas Biaculeatus - Maroon Clownfish

1 Mandarin Goby after 9 months maturity
1 Blue spotted jaw fish needs cooler temperatures and special sand bed issues for success
Cardinal fish pair
Agile chromis school (5-7) chromis will not school and worse will reduce their number down to one or at most two
A small wrass (haven't decided on a species yet would love suggestions)
1 Pink spotted goby
1 coral beauty angelfish not coral safe
1 flame angelfish (or if there are better species that will live better together I would love suggestions on these guys.) not coral safe
I appreciate any comments!:spin3:

Feel free to check back with any revisions

Hey Steve,

Starting a new tank, 40 gallon cube all in one. Please advise if this list is too much.

Longnose Hawkfish
Pair of Occelaris Clowns
Midas Blenny

Thank you for the input snorvich. I have been adding pods, plus I have a populated refugium in my sump. The mandarin is a bit plump. I have had em for about 8 months.

I lost the firefish. He was too skiddish and wouldnt go after food as well as the other fish. Is a coral beauty able to be added?

Since I am not able to go backwards and have done literally thousands of these (with a poor memory), I would need tank size and stocking plan in order to properly evaluate.

Hi Steve - listing one more time before I purchase to double check.

Tank DSA 135 g (48 X 24 X 27)
120 lbs rock
35 g sump with 18 g fuge (several kinds of algae)
Reef Octopus skimmer, 4 Tunze Stream powerheads
LED Ocean Revive lights
Small collection of LPS and SPS frags

Here's my plan:

2 Ocellaris clowns
2 Purple firefish
3 Zebra barred dartfish
3-5 barnacle blennies
1 Yellowheaded jawfish
1 male Hoeven's wrasse
1 Algae blenny
2 tank-raised Banggai cardinalfish
1 Magnificent Foxface
1 Pistol shrimp/goby pair (pink spot or Randall's)

In the future I would consider a single blue-eye Kole tang or Tomini tang (to be last fish in)
Would also like a copperband butterfly someday, but would depend on finding one that is eating..

Have mostly snail-only CUC (1 Emerald crab)
Would pair of Skunk cleaners or Fire shrimp be ok with the wrasse?

THANKS again Steve!

Good evening, I am working on building a 220. My current tank has,

1 Pink Spot Goby
1 Yellow Tang
1 Starry Blenny (kinda a jerk but seems to get along with other fish now)
2 PJ Cardinals
2 Clowns
1 draggonet

In my 220 I was wanting to add 2 Blue throat triggers, a sailfin Tang, and a flasher wrasse.

DO you see any problems. I was thinking it might be a bit small for the sailfin and 2 btt

An established yellow tang may not allow addition of the sailfin tang. The Blue Throat Trigger-fish needs a varied diet of meaty foods including; squid, krill, clams, small fish and hard shelled shrimp to help wear down their ever growing teeth. However your tank should accommodate them size wise.

I'm ready for my first fish, well my second fish. I currently have a blue damsel in my DT which I'll remove once my new fish is ready to come out of the QT. I have a 120 gallon 5 ft. tank. Which option should I choose for my first addition.

1st option - 3 Chromis

2nd option - 3 lyretail anthias; 2 females, 1 male.

3rd option - 1 Sailfin Tang

4th option - Flasher Wrasse

Feedback appreciated.

snorvich, I went with the lyre tail anthias and I'm so happy I did. They are very beautiful fish. Will I be able to add some bartletts later on?

I would simply add more lyretail to enhance the social interaction. And I hope you did not do the sailfin tang

well on this thread, there is only feedback by me. If you want general feedback start your own thread in Reef Fish.

The adult Emperor angel may not choose to coexist with the Asfur but it might work out. The Vlamingii tang is peaceful but the power brown tang may not all it to be introduced
