We are working on stocking our standard 90 gallon mixed-reef DT. It's been up and running about a year and a half after seeding dry rock/sand. I'm wondering how full it is and what else can work with our planned list.

- Ecosystem pro sump w/ bubble magus nac-6 skimmer/UV sterilizer/dual cabron/GFO reactor
- 75 gallon refugium with DSB and excess rock elevated off sand bed.

Currently stocked:
- 1 - Purple Firefish
- 1 - Yellow Watchman Goby paired w/ tiger pistol shrimp
- 2 - Occy Clowns
- 1 - Tailspot Blenny
- 3 - Zebra Barred Dartfish

good so far

- 1 - Blood Red Fire Shrimp
- 3 - Peppermint Shrimp

- 2 - Maxima Clams
- assorted LPS / SPS / Zoa / Mushrooms

In 10 gallon QT/observation after TTM awaiting move to DT:
- 1 - Royal Gramma fine, nice to see you are quarantining

Things we would like to consider adding down the line after system adjust to new bio-load some:
- small school of blue-eyed Cardinals (5-9?) they will not school; over time they will pair off; most activity nocturnally
- Harum of Flasher Wrasse (1 male - 3 female) fine and very interesting
- a Yellow Eye Kole Tang or a Foxface ("or similar larger show fish/algae eater")

either but not both

- We have considered a Coral Beauty as an alternative to something above or if there was still space. I would love the "2 big fish" to be the Tang and Coral Beauty, but I'm pretty sure we are starting to get to the end of space.

both are in the same ecological niche and the tank is small so two might be pushing it

I could sacrifice #'s on the Blue-eye Cardinals and do a pair of Flasher Wrasse if a combination of these future additions is possible. I would suggest the flasher wrasses and skip the cardinals

Coming from years of stocking fresh water and having never stocked a saltwater reef yet, I appreciate the guidance.

100 gal tank, with 120# of LR.
Thinking of:
1 Kole Tang
1 Flame Angel
1 Coral Beauty Angel
1 Chromis
1 Occ Clown
1 Yellow Clown Goby
1 Yellow Coris Wrasse
1 Bangaii Cardinal
1 Royal Gramma

Hi. Current tank is 45gallon with about 55 to 60 pounds of live rock. Current inhabitants are 2 ocellaris clowns (male and female), and 3 pajama cardinals. Would like to add orchid dottyback and yellow watchman goby. Would that be too much? Thanks in advance.

Should be fine behaviorally although it will appear a bit crowded

1 Chromis these are highly susceptible to uronema so I would skip
1 Occ Clown

1 Bangaii Cardinal
1 Royal Gramma

fine except as noted

Constantly changing my mind, 20 gallon, 20-25 lbs rock, 10g sump with skimmer, refugium, currently only have CUC with cleaner shrimp.

The fish I would like are:
pair of Ocellaris clowns
Firefish goby
Tailspot blenny
Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse

Could I get away with:
2 Ocellaris clowns
Firefish
Tailspot Blenny

Or would 1 clown make this work? If so could I then add the Wrasse or am I just too full?

As always thanks for the help!

I am reluctant to recommend a single or pair of clownfish in this sized tank with other fish.

54 gallon corner tank, live rock. Started cycling with clownfish and rock.

clownfish pair
bubbletip anemone
bangai cardinals
tang
puffer?
dragonets
Scarlet Skunk shrimp
cleaner slug with the ears(I forget the name)
considering a horshoe crab, but worried it might be cramped when it grows larger. If horeshoe crab is not recommended than I'd get a sandsifting starfish.

You should not be cycling a tank with live animals; very outdated and bad for the fish

clownfish pair
bubbletip anemone
bangai cardinals
tang needs a larger tank
puffer? needs a larger tank
dragonets needs a much larger tank for two
Scarlet Skunk shrimp
cleaner slug with the ears(I forget the name)

Neither is recommended

Hi,
I have a 75 gal, and currently have a false percula clown, and a flame angel. My tank will be FOWLR. I was thinking Niger Trigger, Hepatus Tang, Yellow Tang, and a lawnmower blenny.

Now I know it is a bit overstocked, but I have a 360 gal empty in my garage. I plan to have it set up fully in about 4 years. Will the 75 gal work till then?

Your advice is apreciated
:D

Sorry, I do not provide analysis of aggressive fish community tanks. Your question can be posed here. However, no, those fish will not coexist in a 75 gallon tank for any period of time.

Hi Steve,

I currently have a 180 with a 2 bar rabbit, kole tang, flame angel, falco hawk, cbb, 6 line wrasse, and a surviving male clown who I assume give time will turn female.

My question, I am working on a 220 72x30x24tall tank and would like some more fish. Do you think I can put a chevron tang and magnificent foxface with the existing clan? I would also like some other type of wrasse and wondered if flasher of filament would be a better choice. I was thinking the new additions should go first.

Thanks

The problems will be: a foxface and rabbitfish are contraindicated together and a sixline wrasse does not do well with fairy or flasher wrasses or even other wrasses. Otherwise, should be fine. You can accelerate the clownfish changing by adding a tiny juvenile of the same species.

Hi, Doug here I have a 92 gallon corner, running a vertex 150 skimmer i picked up during black friday :D. Currently FOWLR but I intend to add corals as the tank matures so I'm trying to stay reefsafe with the fish.

Current stocking list
2x Ocellaris clowns (I hope to get them an RBTA when my tank has matured a bit more)
2x Purple firefish
1 Lawnmower blenny

On the wishlist
1 Yellow tang or lemon peel angel (I would prefer the tang but from my research I have seen very mixed reviews some people say nothing short of 100g, and since my tank is a corner it doesn't have the width of a standard tank. While I have seen plenty of others say I should be fine.)

1 Royal gramma

Gobies, Either a couple neon blue, or 1 of the gobies that pair off with a pistol shrimp.

A six line wrasse would be nice, im concerned it may start bullying the more timid fish such as my firefish.

I then want to add a small group of 3 or 5 blue green chromis to fill out the tank, however it seems people have mixed results keeping a group of these going!

I plan on adding the fish slowly over time.

The most confusing part of this hobby is half of the forum posts I read say my fish or group of fish are model citizens, while the other half say they where a disaster.

I now have a mix of LPS/SPS/Softies that are all doing well.

Current livestock:

1 Royal Gramma
1 Pajama Cardinal
3 Blue-eyed Cardinals
1 Ocellaris Clown (he's mean)
1 Green Chromis
1 One Spot Foxface
Cleanup Crew of snails/hermits

I would like to add:
1 Red Firefish
1 Yellow Clown Goby
1 Yellow Eye Kole Tang
1 Neon Blue Goby
Several cleaner shrimp (just threw this in in case any of the listed fish eat shrimp!).

In another 6 months or so:
1 Green Mandarin

I see the quoted text didn't come through:

I have a 90 gallon bare bottom DT with 30 gallon sump. 90lbs of base rock. Tank has been up 7 months.
