First fish for tank suggestions

First fish for tank suggestions

I am in the process of setting up my Reefer 450 (@100gallons) I have my quarantine tank set up and would like to purchase the first fish to put in after a month or so. I know two fish I want to have in the tank. A pair of percula clowns and blue green chromis. Which would be better to introduce into the tank first? Or any other suggestions as to first fish to put into the tank.

Will be doing fishless cycling with Dr. Tims as well as some live rock.

A pair of percula clowns would be fine. I do not advocate chromis as they are often susceptible to uronema marinum. If you with chromis any way, you will need a very rigorous quarantine protocol, discuss of which is beyond the scope of this thread.

I currently have a 55gal DT with a 2in sand bed and small sump.

I'm thinking of stocking with:

firefish
bagaii cardinalx2
black clownfish
diamond watchmen goby
cleaner shrimp

Would this be ok and if so, what order would they best be added?

Hi all I'm new to this, and would really appreciate some help and advice on stocking this tank.
I'm going to be putting live rock and corals in, and I was hoping to keep;
2 x Common Clown
1 x Royal Grammar
3/4 x Blue-green Chromis
1 x Blenny
Would that be overstocking my tank?
It's got a 40l sump, and it's actually 270l tank to be precise lol.
Thanks.

Steve-
I am going to be setting up a 40 breeder lps/sps reef with a 20 L sump/refugium. I will have about 35 lbs of liverock and my skimmer is going to be a vertex omega 130.

I hope to add-
2x snowflake clowns (pair)
1x coral beauty- will it munch corals
1x diamond goby
2x flasher wrasse (pair)

I will have a snails only clean up crew. Is this overstocking? If so tell me what i should eliminate. If Not i would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks a bunch!!

Looking to purchase a Condylactis anemone later today.

I have a 24g nanocube. Built in 3 chamber filter. No sump.

Parameters as of 6/12: Measured Nitrate at 2.5 ppm, Measured Nitrite at 0 ppm, Measured Ammonia at 0 ppm, Measured pH at 8.0 pH, Measured Salinity at 1.025 SG, Measured Temperature at 79 F.

Current inhabitants: 8 hermits (small red and blue legged ones) ,3 Turbo snails, 2 Spiny Star Astraea, 3 Cerith, 2 Trochus, and 2 Astrea, 1 Emerald crab and a Watchman goby (about 3" long)

This is a picture of it I took on the 12th. It just arrived in store on the 12th so I wanted to give it a few days to make sure it is well. I witnessed it eating the day it arrived (Neon Blue Goby got too close :( )

Does this seem like a safe buy?

This would be fine. Order is not important with this list.

Stocking list is fine from a bioload perspective; chromis are highly susceptible to uronema marinum so I never recommend them. Also multiples would become one over time.

So sorry, but this thread is only about marine fish compatibility. For questions about anemones, please post your own thread in the anemone and clownfish forum.

Hello seems like you very knowledgeable with what fish can go together and how many fish you can put in your tank.. when I got into the hobby I jumped right in with no experience I bought myself a 180gallon tank . I've been in the hobby now for 2 years or so. I was reading some of these posts and made me very curious. I'm not sure if you need my formation but I'll give it to you anyway. My lighting ATI 60" 8×80 . On on a 180 gallon tank. 2 MP 40 jebao WP 40 powerhead . 2 overflow boxes to 75 gallon sump .12000dc return pump in middle it also feeds my refugium (chaeto no sand) .Two filter socks & DC2 protein skimmer . On my display tank I got live rock & sand.
"¢Pair maroon clownfish hosting an anemone
"¢5 blue green chromis
"¢ hippo tang
"¢ cleaner wrasse
"¢ six line wrasse
"¢ flame angel
"¢ yellow tang
"¢ purple tang
"¢ blonde naso
"¢ one spot foxface
"¢ skunk shrimp, peppermint shrimp, emerald crab, some snails, couple hermit crabs
"¢Duncan coral ,mushrooms ,Ricordea frog spawn , cocoa worm, Monti cap, Xenia.
Now I still want to get a
*Achilles tang
* copper band
*Regal
* 2 reef safe bannerfish
* mandrian
*Some wrasses & gobies

•Pair maroon clownfish hosting an anemone
•5 blue green chromis will reduce in number over time
• hippo tang needs a larger tank long term
• cleaner wrasse
• six line wrasse will reduce possible wrasse tank mates
• flame angel
• yellow tang established zebrasoma tangs will limit additions as they are very territorial
• purple tang established zebrasoma tangs will limit additions as they are very territorial
• blonde naso needs a larger tank long term
• one spot foxface
• skunk shrimp, peppermint shrimp, emerald crab, some snails, couple hermit crabs

Now I still want to get a
*Achilles tang established tangs will not allow
* copper band established tangs will definitely not allow introduction as these require peaceful tank mates for introduction
*Regal established tangs will probably not allow
* 2 reef safe bannerfish established tangs may not allow
* mandrian not with a sixline wrasse
*Some wrasses & gobies wrasses may not be allowed with a sixline wrasse

90 Gallon -
3 Male and 9 Female Sailfin Mollies (Poecilia Latipinna)
Pair of Four Eye Butterflyfish (Chaetodon Capistratus)
Pair of Caribbean Sailfin Blenny (Emblemaria Pandionis)

40 Gallon Breeder -
Pair of Rusty Goby (Priolepis Hipoliti)
Trio of Chalk Basslet - (Serranus Tortugarum)

Is this ok?

90 Gallon -
3 Male and 9 Female Sailfin Mollies (Poecilia Latipinna) I have no way to evaluate fresh water fish adapted to salt water
Pair of Four Eye Butterflyfish (Chaetodon Capistratus) difficult; if not a true male/female, will fight
Pair of Caribbean Sailfin Blenny (Emblemaria Pandionis) two probably will not work

Pair of Rusty Goby (Priolepis Hipoliti)
Trio of Chalk Basslet - (Serranus Tortugarum)

I am not sure why you are trying pairs; those are generally difficult

I've gotten Synchiropus Ocellatus to eat flakes and pellets, so I think I'll be good on getting the butterflies to feed. I think I'll go with one blenny, I just watched a video of two males fighting violently. The mollies, I've already acclimated them, they're generally peaceful herbivores that produce massive amounts of offspring (coral and fish food).

They all do, they are just not able to compete for them. Unfortunately that does not extend to those butterflies; good luck with them, however.

40 breeder (with a 65 gallon sump/27 gallon refugium).

Existing fish...

pair of Ocellaris Clownfish
Firefish

Future wish list (depending)...
Lawnmower Blenny
Royal Gramma
Bangaii Cardinal
Pajama Cardinal
Chalk Bass?
Fairy Wrasse?
Pygmy Cherub angel?
