Please Check Out Your Fish thread

This thread is only answered by Reef Central Staff, in this case, me. While we encourage you to participate in all other areas of Reef Central, we would appreciate your not answering in this thread. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Apologies, I didn't realise only RC staff could offer advice in this thread. Please feel free to delete this post and my previous one.

Bioload is a bit high. I think two blennies would need a larger tank

I am in the middle of a 210 build, if they end up fighting in the small space I could move one over there if it becomes an issue, as well as the chromis( although he is really fond of the clownfish so I would feel bad separating them). Or I could put the tailspot in with my mantis, she doesn't kill fish and the rock work would allow the tail spot to hide. Would that work?

What fish would you recommend in the same caliber for this size tank? The cleanup crew minus the urchins and porcelain is what TBS recommends for a CC for my size tank. What would you revise this to?

As this thread is only about marine fish compatibility, we do not really offer much in the way of CUC advice other than to go with hermits or snails but not both. Please start your own thread in New to the Hobby. Also, realize that I am not able to go backwards in this thread so tank size and stocking plan needs to be included in all questions. Thanks! ;)

Time to stop?

Time to stop?

Have I reached my max bio load?

I would like to add a Powder Blue Tang and a Foxface Lo or a One Spot Foxface. I am concerned about adding a Foxface with a Double Barred already in the tank.

I am also thinking a Powder Brown Tank rather than the PB, but they are listed as reef safe with caution.

Whatcha think?

PS I just added the Kole Tang and Caribbean Tang from QT and my Cherub Angel is really going after the Caribbean.

The problem is that algae grazers are very inefficient eaters and hence eat all the time. When you have a lot of members of the same ecological niche, territorial concerns come to the forefront. While your bioload is probably ok, the behavioral issue supercedes bioload concerns.

Hey Steve -

Thanks in advance for your feedback. So far you have not stirred me wrong.

I am switching my 40g over to an 80g (already setup) 48x24x16 and moving over my current stock.

2 x occ clownfish
2 x pj cardinals
Starry Blenny

Want to add

Royal Gramma
Clown Goby
Bartletts Anthias

I feed 3xs a day - flakes am, pellets midday, frozen nightly.

Gonna add the goby and gramma at the same time and the Anthias last. Probably in about 2 months. Let my guys settle in their new home.

Thought about a coral beauty but they aren't reef safe correct?

Thanks!

Plan is fine

Thanks!

Steve would I be tapped out at that point? I certainly want the fish to be "comfortable". I don't need to max out per se.

I feel that it would be comfortable. There are always two issues: bioload and behavior. I feel you would be fine with both.

Hello everyone. Thought I'd check in here and mention my plans for adding more fish:

Tank info:
60 gallon long soft and Lps reef
15 gal sump (will be upgraded to a 55 gallon in a month)
50 lbs live rock
Asm mini-g skimmer

Stock:
2 o. Clownfish
2 benggai cardinal fish
2 zebra barred dart fish
1 ywg
1 six line wrasse
1 coral banded shrimp
1 fire shrimp
1 emerald crab
1 decorator crab
Hermits and snails

Wish list:
Flame angel
Midas blenny
Green clown goby
Mandarin
Orange spot blenny

I'm certain I can't fit all of the fish on my wish list in the tank, but I wanted to get your thoughts on which I should choose. My top two would be a flame angel and Midas blenny.

Established 5" red coris wrasse and 3" royal flasher wrasse, considering purchasing an established 4" red line wrasse from a fellow board member. Tank is 225g 72x30x24 200 lbs of lr

You were a great help this past winter snorvich when I was setting up my first reef tank. I recently lost most of my fish due to a non-quarantined urchin, so I am in the process of restocking.

Tank is a 40g breeder with a 20g sump. Looks like a pretty healthy pod population now, planning to add a chaeto section with light to my sump.

1 Randall's prawn goby - Amblyeleotris randalli (sole survivor of velvet outbreak, in QT now)
1 ruby red dragonet - Synchiropus sp.
1 royal gramma - Gramma loreto
1 starry blenny - Salarias ramosus
1 purple firefish - Nemateleotris decora
2 ocellaris clowns - Amphiprion ocellaris

Thanks!
