Hi
I would love to add an orange spot goby in my 30 gal
Current stock:
2 clowns, 1 ywg 1 tail spot 1 cleaner wrasse
Lots cuc and sps lps zoas

Ok I have a 29 gallon reef tank with 3 b/g Chromis, 2 black/white clowns, flame angle, pink spot goby with pistol shrimp. I also have a lot of coral and a hard working clean up crew... The tanks going great. So I've decided to upgrade to a 125g (72"x18"x22") which I'm currently setting up an still got a couple more months to go. It's gonna have 200g rated skimmer reef octopus, refugium, 155lbs live rock, high flow, 40b sump, and all the other bells and whistles. I plan on moving everything from the 29g over and go from there. My fish stock list:

Starting with the 3 b/g Chromis, 2 black/white clowns, flame angle, pink spot that I already have a want to add:
4 more Chromis
Powder Blue and Yellow Tang both at the same time
Midas Blenny
2 Wrassies not sure what kinds yet (recommendations?)
2 Anthias one of each sex if I can ever tell them apart
Foxface maybe? Not sure i don't want too many large fish
And last a mandarin or two after a year or so once my pods increase
Oh yea 2 cleaner shrimp if they are compatible cause idk and a starfish
And obviously a really nice clean up crew

I would love some feed back and advice thank you!

I do not think you will be able to do so with current stocking list. Also, the cleaner wrasse will be a problem as it has not clients that will allow cleaning

Be sure not to purchase additional fish until the new tank is up, stable, and running for a couple of months

My fish stock list:

4 more Chromis unfortunately, in the long run chromis will narrow down their number until you have one or at most two.
Powder Blue and Yellow Tang both at the same time be sure you have a good quarantine protocol; an established yellow tang will make adding additional grazers difficult
Midas Blenny
2 Wrassies not sure what kinds yet (recommendations?)
2 Anthias one of each sex if I can ever tell them apart need feeding multiple times per day for best results
Foxface maybe? Not sure i don't want too many large fish
And last a mandarin or two after a year or so once my pods increase two mandarins need to be of different sexes and need a tank that is nine months or more of maturity
Oh yea 2 cleaner shrimp if they are compatible cause idk and a starfish
And obviously a really nice clean up crew

I currently have the following in my 280g FOWLR:
3 chromis
pair of Oscellarus
gold headed sleeper goby
flame angel
wrasses-exquisite, xmas, lineatus
Mimic tang (about 2 in)
Blond Naso (about 5 in)
Magnificent Fox Face

My future plans include:
Possibly a couple add'l fairy/flasher wrasses
Harlequin Tusk
Bellus Angel
Blue Jaw Trigger
Blue Face Angel
(I do know there are some larger fish that may make the tank look small ;-)

I am thinking of other possible additions (won't be adding all of these and the ones above) and would like to know your thoughts on compatibility:
1. Heniochus acuminata (a pair or trio?)
2. blue spotted jawfish
3. A trio of anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum, Pseudanthias squamipinnis or Pseudanthias ignitus)
4. Longnose hawkfish
5. Papuan toby puffer

Thanks as always Steve!

Hi Steve,

I would like to add more fish to my 120 gallon tank in the next couple of weeks. I currently have one of each:

Tomini tang
Clarkii clownfish
Squareback anthias
Lubbock fairy wrasse
Royal gramma
Firefish
YWG

I am considering the following:
2 Dispar anthias
2 blue/green chromis

I would also like to add some more wrasses, maybe 2-3(?) but not sure which one will get along with the others. There are so many choices. I'm generally looking at easy to keep and peaceful fish. I also don't want to overload my bioload.

Thanks again for all your help!!

3. A trio of anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum, Pseudanthias squamipinnis or Pseudanthias ignitus) best results require feeding multiple times per day
4. Longnose hawkfish not shrimp safe
5. Papuan toby puffer will nip your fish

Thanks as always Steve!

the wrasse is big and fat and have being eating very well, if I take out ywg will that do? the ywg has been in the tank for 3 yrs and I rarely sees her :(

Yes, the YWG is the sticking point with the addition. I am not worried about the cleaner wrasse surviving, I am more concerned that it will bug other inhabitants into withdrawing or being intimidated.

I will think about removing the ywg, thx for the suggestions

100 gallon long reef tank

Currently in tank:

2x Ocellaris clown fish

1x Blue Spotted Toby Puffer (so far so good. Hasn't nipped coral or fish or shrimp. Time will tell)

1x Bicolour blenny

1 x Sharp Nose Possum Wrasse

I would like to add either a Longnose Butterfly

or Copperband Butterfly.

I live in Australia so both species would be from Australia

Red tail tamarin wrasse-Saw this cool looking fish at my Lfs. Looks like a clown red/blue speckled face about 4 in long. I also have a few other fairy wrasses so is this one peaceful generally (seemed to be at the lfs) -280g fowlr.
Thanks for any insight

For a 180 SPS tank

For a 180 SPS tank

I set my tank up in January and currently have 1 Yellow tang about 3 inches. He transferred over from my prvious tank

I would like to add:

Kole Tang
Blue Carribiean
PBt
Bluehead Fairy Wrasse
Scott's Fairy Wrasse
Spot Breast Angel
Bellus Angel
Blue Reef Chromis (3)

I will be using a 20 gallon for QT and either treating with copper or Hyposalinity, so two things I would like some specific help with.

I will have them in QT for 8 weeks treatment time. Or is 4 enough?

Order to add the fish
How many to quarantine at one time. I am thinking 3 of mixed size, but maybe I should do all tangs at once. Should the most aggressive fish go in last? What order?

This is a great thread and thanks to all the helpful members who take the time to respond and help with our ignorance.

Wish I had seen this thread first.
Ok I have a 56 gal FOWLR, I do not have much live rock at the moment but I plan on adding more slowly. I already have a Blue Dot Toby, Ocellaris Clown, Foxface Lo and a Coral Beauty. Inverts one small brown hermit crab and two mexican turbo snails. My puffer leaves the crab alone and only mildly harrasses the snails, they are really too big for him to damage.
I would love to add a few corals and maybe a fighting conch for some extra detris control.
What corals are the most puffer safe?
Is there a reef safe/puffer safe sea star?

Thanks in advance!

Australian longnose or copperbands will do well but the latter is not always reef safe.

expert level fish, when asking about inhabitants, please supply the entire stocking list.

yellow tangs (actually, any zebrasoma tangs) will not be happy adding additional tangs

I would like to add:

Kole Tang
Blue Carribiean
PBt
Bluehead Fairy Wrasse
Scott's Fairy Wrasse aggressive
Spot Breast Angel two Genicanthus angels may be difficult to add
Bellus Angel
Blue Reef Chromis (3)

Order to add the fish the yellow tang may be a problem, normally it should be last

always most aggressive last, most peaceful first
