Well I've spent time going through fish and getting ideas of what I'm going to want. This is a preliminary list of fish I reall liked, the Lionfish and the cling fish being my two personal favorites from my little list. This will be on a 55 gallon tank and of course coral and the such. Break it down for me good sir.

Any swaps or suggestions welcome, I like colorful fish (if I wanted dull I would've done another freshwater tank)

Is this too many? Not enough?

Other then the lion what else would be considered aggro?

Yes, the lion is aggressive given that it eats other fish. A cling fish is a difficult fish and would not be what I would recommend for a new to the hobby or even one moderately experienced. Anthias really need a 75 gallon tank.

Because they kill snails. Have one or the other but not both.

Let me explain a bit about what I have going on right now, currently I have a 125 gallon tank but will soon be downgrading to a 29 gallon tank and in the future I plan on having a 75 gallon tank but who knows when that would happen. What I would like to do was to get some of the fish for my 29 that I would eventually transfer it over to the 75 (all the fish i would get for the 29 will be appropriate for that tank)

So this is the plan for stocking the 29 gallon sumpless (sorry I made a similar post the other day and wanted to check the changed plan)
Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse (Wetmorella tanakai)
Midas Blenny (Ecsenius midas) (Live Aquaria says 30 gallons but I'm hoping 29 will suffice)
Pinkbar Goby (Amblyeleotris aurora)
Gold Neon Eviota Goby (Eviota pellucida)


And this is the plan for the 75 gallon with a sump

I plan on adding the mandarin after the refugium has online for a year.

I plan on adding both angels at the same time and as the second to last fish and adding the Tang last.

Generally, that should be ok, but with the number of grazers you would have to supplement feed with Nori

Hello Snorvich! This thread finally made me register here. I've had a 10 gallon, first SW tank ever, running for over a year. No deaths but Im meticulous about it's care. Im starting a 40B to transfer everything from the 10g into there. I currently have 2 Ocellaris, 1 sixline, fire and peppermint shrimp, and several snails.

The 40B will be running an AC70 fuge mainly for pods but to supplement filtration.
AC110 for mechanical and chemical filtration
PSK-100 skimmer rated to 100g
G2 Radion
Mesh for the jumper.
40lbs medium grade substrate. Tropic Edens miniflakes mixed with their reef flakes.
25lbs live rock, I have minimalist tendencies.

Besides the 3 fish Im thinking about adding a Midas Blenny and a yellow watchman goby.

No. But grazers, by the nature of their metabolism eat constantly (and poop) so Nori is essential. With only one, the tank algae would be sufficient.

Midas Blennies tend to nip the fins of water column fish.

Just put together a 65 g- it's going to be LPS dominated. Another 12ish gallons in the sump with a skimmer and a refugium. 3-4 inches of sand and I do have a lid.


I have 2 ocellaris clowns.

I plan to add:

tail spot blenny
5'ish yellow striped cardinals
hi-fin goby/pistol shrimp combo
helfrichi firefish if I can swing the $. purple if I can't.
hector's or rainford's goby
and something along the lines of a long-fin faery wrasse or linespot flasher wrasse

Too many gobies? Peaceful enough group?

What are the dimensions of the tank? The yellow tang must be last in any case. If an 8 foot tank, it will probably work.
