I've had my tank set up about 6 months now, its 55 Litres, Lighting: 1 X 18W PL, Heater: 55w JBL, Filter: Intergrated back filter.
Currently in the tank is 4kg of live rock, 4kg of marine sand.

2 x clown (one that was originally bought and the other introduced 2 months ago - the new one has doubled in size in that time).
1 x box fish.
1 x cleaner shrimp
2 x snails.
4 x hermit crabs.

My question is...

Today I bought a blue tang, was this a mistake?
I thought my tank was unsuitable for one when I bought it, so I was delighted today to be told it was ok.

However now im worried, is my tank too small for him? If so .. what are the problems that can arise from this?

Any help greatly appreciated.

However now im worried, is my tank too small for him? If so .. what are the problems that can arise from this? well, since you have a box fish, it could get stressed and poison the tank; in the case of P. hepatus, it is sort of like trying to raise your child in a closet; Reef Centrals recommended tank size for P. Hepatus is 960 liters. (sorry about the crude analogy). In point of fact, your tank is not really large enough for a pair of clownfish; the least aggressive species of clownfish needs to control about 100 liters of tank space. . Sorry to be so blunt.

Any help greatly appreciated.

1 - Yellow tang also can I add a Brown or a smaller species tang in the future.

Also if I add these fish each group 1 week apart. Will that a low enough load on the tank.
And in the future will I be able to add more small to medium size fish.

And in the future will I be able to add more small to medium size fish. yes, depending on behavior; fish size is not the binding constraint, but fish behavior is

Tank just finished cycling, and I dont have any livestock in yet, except the clean up crew. I plan to do a reef, but only stick with easy corals, softies some lps. I was wondering which fish to start stocking with first? I have a little list of the fish I would like to keep, so if I list them could you tell me which ones would be best to stock first, and how many of each? Also how many to add at once, would 2 fish be ok to add in at once?

Luzon Anthias x3 For a group, a larger tank is indicated. See this for why
Splendid Dottyback x1 aggressive; may be problematic with conspecifics
Cleaner Goby x2 unless paired, only one is indicated
Yellow Tang x1 needs a larger tank if kept with another tang. Reef Central's recommended tank size for tangs can be found here.

Well, a clown fish will sexually mature into a female who will want (depending on species) to control at least 25 gallons of tank space. Reef Central believes you should purchase fish for the tank you have rather than the tank you hope to have. Since clownfish are common, why not wait until you have the proper sized tank?

Thanks. Reason is I have two young children infatuated with "nemo" and wanted to keep them excited about SW tanks while I spend the next 3-6 months competing a basement remodel and built in larger tank.

Yes, I totally understand. It will do ok for that period of time. If later you decide to pair it up, you must add a smaller one.

I have a 220 gal. 72x24x30 that I'm setting up. I'll be putting 220 lbs of liverock into it with a deep sand bed. I have a 65 gal sump. It will start as a FOWLR and I eventually want to add SPS after I have the fish stocked. Will use snails as a cuc.
