Thanks, Steve. If the Damsel limits options I will bump him to the 60g DT. However, I have to say, he was really good with others in a 10g QT and then a 20g QT... do you think he'll be okay in a large tank with some great rock work for hidey-holes? If other fish get near 'his personal pvc' he will zip at them, but we have seen no nipping of fins...

which species?

Also, with the tangs, the yellow can be last. No problem. I picked three to stick with the 'odd number of tangs' rule.

there is no such "rule"; zebrasoma tangs, once established can be really tough on addition of conspecifics. So the yellow must be last. The other two tangs are somewhat less aggressive. And remember it is tank length rather than gallons that is most important

I do not want to push it, however. Should I reduce to a Koles, and yellow?

I forget the specific type... the damsel is vivid blue on top with a diagonal split, and bright yellow underneath. The yellow split starts below the mouth, low, and moves up and back to include all of the rear fins. Make sense?

edit- I believe this is him.... Damselfish (Chrysiptera sp. nov.)

Hopefully, it is Chrysiptera hemicyanea. Chrysiptera are not the PITA type damsels. Leave it be, should be fine.

Hey I have a 75 gal DT with 25 gal sump. ~120 lbs of live rock and 2" sandbed. Currently only have a yellow watchman goby and shrimp and some zoanthids. Small CUC.

Want to add..
1st
2 Bonded snowflake clownfish
2nd
2 or 3 flasher wrasse (2 female 1 male) or 2 males?
3rd
2 Bonded cardinals (probably pajama)

And maybe a mandarin eventually.

Will this work and does it max out the tank?

should be fine; depending on behavior additional small fish could be added

Back again and Thank you again
1 Yellow Eyed Tang
2 Canary Wrasse, needs to be a mated pair right?
Bicolor Blenny or Gold Head goby
3 Pajama Cardinal fish, would 4 be better in case two pick on the odd one
2 Fire shrimp
2 Cleaner shrimp
4 Peppermint shrimp
would these snail be a good clear up crew?
Cerith Snails
Turbo Snails
Nassarius Snails
You said add the fire and cleaner concurrently does that mean at the same time?
And if its not to much can you put to what order the fish should go in maybe, if you cant its no problem
Thanks again

This thread is only about marine fish compatibility with each other and the environment you are providing. Once you plan a stocking list, check back here to see if the behaviors are compatible and your environment is suitable.

I probably will not be getting one....but I did want to ask. What is necessary, food wise, to keep pipefish (I guess, I would be asking about the "easiest" species"). I know very little about them. Do they require pods like dragonets? I have a ruby red and will not buy another fish to compete for pods. This is just a general question. Basically, should I not consider any type of pipefish because I already have a dragonet and do not want to run out of pods, or will they eat prepared foods reliably?

From a naturally occurring perspective, amphipods, copepods and similar, but very small food such as nutramar ova or frozen cyclopeeze would work too. Many people supply Live foods such as vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, small ghost shrimp, or copepods and amphipods found in live rock are usually preferred. But remember, they would not be able to compete well so seahorses and pipefish would do well together.

What would be a good place to purchase inhabitants for a saltwater aquarium? I think I have a good idea of what to stock with: 30ish gallon FOWLR tank with
1 ocellaris clown
1 firefish
1 clown goby
1 sailfin blenny
1 valentini puffer

Also, do I need to have something for the clown to host with, and if so, what would be easiest to take care of? (I don't trust myself with anemones)

Stocking list is fine; we do not provide recommendations on where to purchase. Obviously we have sponsors that sell fish and equipment.

I'm in the process of cycling a new 225g tank and wanted to run my potential stocking list by you for feedback. Below is what i was thinking of

Orange backed Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis)
Lubbocks Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus lubbocki)
Carpenter Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri)
Yellow fin Wrasse (Paracheilinus flavianalis)
Line spot Wrasse (Paracheilinus lineopunctatus)
2x Clowns (Amphiprion ocellaris)
Lawnmower Blennie (Salarias fasciatus)
Blue Dot Jawfish (Opistognathus rosenblatti)
Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto)
Magnificent Foxface (Siganus magnificus)
Yellow Eye Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus strigosus)
Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens)
Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma desjardini)

thanks in advance!

1 mandarin dragonette
3 anthias
3 chromis

You have a lot of potential jumpers so you will need 1/4 mesh top to keep them in

Orange backed Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis)
Lubbocks Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus lubbocki)
Carpenter Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri)
Yellow fin Wrasse (Paracheilinus flavianalis)
Line spot Wrasse (Paracheilinus lineopunctatus)
2x Clowns (Amphiprion ocellaris)
Lawnmower Blennie (Salarias fasciatus)
Blue Dot Jawfish (Opistognathus rosenblatti) does best long term with cooler temperatures (collected in Sea of Cortez)
Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto)
Magnificent Foxface (Siganus magnificus)
Yellow Eye Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus strigosus)
Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens) the last two zebrasoma tangs would be better in a longer tank if you got both; if you want to try it, and short run would be fine, longer run perhaps problematic, they must be quarantined and introduced concurrently as the last two fish
Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma desjardini)

except as annotated, should be fine

thanks in advance!
