Can you go with a bigger tank for your sump for your G3? I wouldn't add a second overflow going to a seperate tank. You won't have anything to regulate the water in each tank. You could add an overflow to your sump to another tank but then you have 2 point of failures. It would work fine but little risky. I would go with a bigger sump or an external skimmer. Or drill your tank and do it that way.

I've got another 29 gal, ill have to see I can get it under the tank. Do you think that will work ok. I think the footprint on the G3 is 11X12. I'll go measure the tank and see how wide it is!!

It's 12X36, I have to go out of town in a couple of hours, and will be back on Sunday, maybe I can find something there that will work. I wish I would have done this reef thing a little better than I did, Usually I think things through way before I do them, I did this one a little bass ackwards! LOL And I am the only one into the tanks, so there isn't the male input. But I'll get it together. It's been set up now for 6 months, And knock on wood, I havent lost anything in this tank. Except the Xenia's and a couple tiny cardinals that I couldnt get to eat.

April,

tranquel ... yes !!!! no skimmer at this time.. the tanks are running independantly at this time.. i am going to hook up another 180 to the setup and connect them all together with a single 75 gallon sump , 58 gallon grow-out tank and a 58 gallon fuge hidden in the stand.. at that point i have a mtc skimmer to skim the 3 tanks...

Joe

Joe ,what are you putting in the 3rd tank?

Another good place for live rock that has all the stuff on it is www.gulf-view.com some say his rock is not as dence. My 75 has 120# of it and I really like it.

Is that what you used to set the tank initially? Were there alot of critters with that rock? It looks nice from the site. how long have you had yours.

That's what I have in my 75 gallon now its been there a little over two years. It comes right out of the ocean basically mine had some corals, sponges, 2 Christmas tree worms, lots of clams (not the real pretty one though) and just allot of other small stuff. I still find something new once in a while.

It should fit that 29 pretty good. However, you are going to want to put at least 500 gph through that tank. It's basically going to be only a sump as you will have to baffle that 29 up so microbubbles don't get through. But it should work and make sure your return is big enough for evaporation.

well it still looks good, and that is another option, So how close to adding water are you! Cant wait to see it!

I have an extra 700 gal pump. How large of a tank do you think I can squeeze through the door, it is 20in. wide and 32in. tall. the tank stand is 34 1/2 i, tall, there is plenty of room under there, I just have to try and get it through the door without taking the system apart, I thought about some kind of rubbermaid tub, I would like to use this as a sump and fuge, I'm dreaming arent I?

That I don't really know. I don't know if it will fit. How deep is your tank. Try getting some cardboard and cutting out a square to the same dimensions of the tank you want to put in. It might be tougher then you think. Is the back more open? Can always drain the tank temporarily and stuff it in. I've also seen people use a pump to pump water out to tank above and then have it overflow back down to the tank. Then they make a nice macro show tank with live plants and things.

Just another option.

ya jarhead but after 100 posts you can make your own avitar with a picture you like. Kinda like the little guy with the toy drill.

Hi all! Hope you all had a great week end. I didn't find anything for a fuge in Indiana . But I will look in the paper and the yard sales and see if there is anything. I'm sure I can come up with something. And I was talking with my son-in law today about a bulk head for the fuge, He of course laughed at me and said that a bulk head is a wall, that I probably meant cupplings! Arent they bulk heads? If not he surley will never let me live that one down.

Thanks Landon , mako56, on the info for the avitar! I really need to pay the dues and get it out of the way, I just keep finding things for the tank! LOL And Landon, you still havent put a pic of your tank in here yet:
