Pocillopora - Should I avoid?

I just purchased a couple frags -

Cadmium Pocillopora Cora, Aquacultured

Pink/Green Pocillopora damicornis, Aquacultured ORA

Should I avoid these due to spawning? I have been reading they are invasive and a nightmare because they spread everywhere.....

I avoid these. And most Monti's as well. Pocci's are notorious for sprouting everywhere in certain tanks.

I also see many "tank of the month" tanks with Poccillopora Damicornis.

Doesn't seem to be an issue for them. I guess we will see....

I avoid them as well. With encrusting montis you can at least control overgrowth by being conscious with placement. Pocillipora, however, will propagate anywhere and everywhere, and quite commonly.

I think some poci's drop polyps more then others. I've read the pink ones don't drop as much as the greens. That said I regret ever putting a green/purple poci in my tank. I've removed the mother colony but have a ton of babies and mini colonies everywhere. It's a relatively easy and nice looking coral, but will eat up real estate quickly.

In my limited experience the uglier the Poci the more it spawns new colonies. By dark green and green Poci is all over the tank. My nice purple poci and bright green poci have yet to spread.

+1...never again

Believe it, I got rid of my green mother colony year ago because of little babies everywhere I still have some growing in the back side where I cant get to it. However the purple is ok

Rid myself of all pocci a year or so ago after seeing the fallout/bailout here in the sps forum. Not worth it in my tank, but everyone is different.

I had a bailout/spawning. It sucks its all over powerheads and rocks evan the overflow cover. Kalkwasser is working to kill it for the most part but what a headache. I wish I never put it in the tank.

Yep, it was a post just like this last year that had me pull and trash my two poccis. Didn't even want the risk.

When they bailout/spawn do the polyps actually fall out literally? Does it look like this when that happens?
