A short vid I took this weekend. The colors are somewhat washed out. Any trick to taking truer to life vids on a digicam?

Thanks khoivo1. I use 3 different cameras depending on what I am shooting: Canon Rebel XT, Canon S1IS, and my old trusty Nikon 885. The Nikon is good for most close up and corals shots b/c it's more true to life in colors. Until I get a macro lense for the XT, I'll have to rely on the camera rotation.

Ahhhhh ... so much swimming space. I dunno Kenny ... it looks pretty good to me. I think the color sensors in vidcams just aren't as good as in cameras.

Thanks Gabe :D

LOL......I couldn't do that because the tank is 3' deep. If it was sitting in the garage, we couldn't park the minivan inside b/c the garage is not deep enough. She ain't gonna be too happy about lugging 2 kids that far out

bummer that your garage is so small...

one of the cool things on our house was that it was big enough to actually drive our white chevy 15 passenger van in and have about 4 feet left over. so the wifey didn't have to schlep in the two smallest children, nor get into a van that was always baked in the so.cal sunshine.
we've talked about doing an inwall from the garage, but i'm kinda schitzo about cutting load bearing wall studs..

I didn't use a vidcam, just the Canon S5 IS to take the vid. I may have to invest in a HD vidcam now :D

Yeah, it's hard finding a big garage nowadays, unless you have a custom home built. My next home will definitely have a 3 car garage so I can stash some of my toys :)

It shouldn't be a big problem doing an inwall even with load bearing studs in the way. You just have to make sure that the contractor does the right thing and have enough support to the side once those studs are cut.

nice tank, just cant do a tank in the garage in tx

Thanks. Why not in Texas? It gets up to the low 100's here during the summer. Granted, we don't have the humidity that you guys have but I thinks it's still doable. I've heard of tanks built into garages in Nevada and it's hotter than an oven there most of the year. You just have to make sure there is sufficient insulation, air movement, and dehumidification.

Ooooh, more toys. My dad just picked up the HD Sony camera that records on memory stick and I have to admit that it's pretty sweet. I probably inherited my gadgety nature from him. :D Still, editing video is such a pain ... I like dealing with photos better because of that.

Yes, more toys. My next one will be the macro lense for the XT :D

Very nice!! The poweder blue looks like he has immaculate color.

Thanks. The PBT is definitely one of the better specimen I've ever lay my eyes on. That thing eats like a horse.

that is a sick collection! love the quality of the build as well but man those colors are amazing

I appreciate the kind words. Just wished the cameras could capture the real colors a bit better.

Kenny- I would have to say that is one of the chunkiest yellow coris wrasse I have ever seen :p

LOL Mark. I guess you noticed that too  That thing grew so fast I couldn't recognize it. It's so fat it's lopsided. They eat well in this tank. The two watanabei angels must be at least 3/4" thick and they are not big fish at all.

Those were some of the widest angels I have ever seen in a tank! :eek1: Good and healthy!
