Possible Blockage - Should I be worried?

I noticed this morning my little regal in the DT has a swollen anal area, and a little bit of something protruding. It looks a tad red, so I'm getting worried. I've included some pictures... Let me know what you guys think.

She's not any more bloated than usual, and as you can see her appetite hasn't been affected. She's had that lympho spot in her tail since I got her as well, nothing new there...

She nibbled at a couple but wasn't too impressed, definitely didn't get a whole one down.

Keep trying, it's the least invasive option available.

Other options include:

Nori, high in iodine which can help with constipation

"Ocean Plankton" (Hikari sells it), high in carotene another natural laxative

Epsom salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gals) which is a mild muscle relaxant, so it might help as well..

How long have you had this fish? Is she new? Was she QT'd?

dont worry about it one bit.

feed less/no meat.

feed vegies

remember when our parents made us eat the vegies ? same reason.

it will pass with time, 2 days usually.

beautiful fish by the way.

Of course, and I've had her for 8 months or so. I'll keep up the nori, hikari plankton is part of my homemade blend.

Thanks, I had the same ideas about nori.

So, she got a couple little pieces out, but it's definitely bothering her now. She's trying to flick it off with her pelvic fins and run it off.

I think it's looking worse now, definitely more redness. Still no pooing that I've seen... how long should I expect this to last?

I've seen posts where people treat with either metro (for intestinal parasites) or antibiotics (for an infection) when a fish has blockage. It's a shot in the dark, as it's usually difficult to say exactly what is causing the blockage... but I just thought I'd throw it out there for your consideration.

Thanks. She's still eating this morning, but it looks a little more red. Hope she can pass whatever it is...

This might sound strange, and I obviously don't want to stress her and make matters worse, but IME the fastest most effective way to get a fish to poop is to perform a fw dip.. In my case it always happens within the first 30 seconds, makes it hard to look for flukes:mad:

Anyway, if she's backed up idk if that would just make it worse. I'm pretty positive she doesn't have internal parasites but I started feeding metro yesterday anyway.

it took my achilles 4 days to clear it.

a larger angel I had with same Issue, lasted a whole week !

when I spoke to bob fenner about this, his Idea was the fish has ingested some sort of rock or .... that it cant digest / pass through.

That's sort of what it looks like. Sorry if I'm overreacting, I've just never had this happen before and I really don't want to lose her!

Had the same thing happen with the little AT I have in quarantine right now, he passed it in a few days.

Nori nori nori.
